HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac women's volleyball heads back out on the road to Charleston, South Carolina, for another non-conference tournament. The three-day invitational includes the Bobcats, Stetson, Youngstown State, and the hosts, the College of Charleston. Quinnipiac kicks off play on Friday, September 12th, against Stetson at 3 PM.
The Bobcats will battle the hosts on Saturday, September 13th, with the start time slated for 6 PM. The match against the Cougars can be seen on FloCollege. QU will play their final game in Charleston on Sunday at 11 AM against Youngstown State.

LOOKING AHEAD
- After the Bobcats compete in the College of Charleston Invitational, Quinnipiac will head to Philadelphia, PA, to play in the three-day Cherry and White Invitational hosted by Temple University.
- Conference play is right around the corner for QU, beginning on the road at Sacred Heart and Fairfield (September 26-27).
LOOKING BACK
- Last time out, the Bobcats finished the Towson-Morgan State Invitational with a 1-2 record.
- On the opening day of the Invitational, the Bobcats fell to Morgan State and Towson, both in four sets. In the opening match against Morgan State, Elena Giacomini led the squad with 12 kills and was the only Bobcat to reach double-digit figures in kills.
- In the four-set loss to the Towson Tigers, three Bobcats recorded 10+ kills, Elena Giacomini (15), Yagmur Gunes (10), and Vittoria Tonelli (10). Giacomini and Gunes also recorded 10+ digs for a double-double.
- In the Bobcats' final match of the weekend, QU defeated Stonehill in four sets. Elena Giacomini led all players with 21 kills in the win. Yagmur Gunes reached double-digit kills for the second straight match as she recorded 16 kills in the Bobcats' second win of the season.
2024 SEASON REWIND
- The Bobcats finished the season with 19 wins, including a five-game winning streak to close out the regular season.
- The Bobcats finished 15-3 in MAAC play, which locked them into the No. 2 seed for the 2024 MAAC Championships.
- QU defeated No. 3 Rider, 3-1, in the MAAC Semifinals to punch their ticket to the title game.
- Quinnipiac ultimately fell in four sets to in-state rival Fairfield as their season came to an end.
PRESEASON ACCOLADES
- Quinnipiac women's volleyball was selected to finish second in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the league office on August 20th.
- Elena Giacomini was named the MAAC Preseason Player of the Year after winning the MAAC Player of the Year award last season.
- Along with Giacomini being named to the All-MAAC Preseason team, Ginevra Giovagnoni and Damla Gunes also earned those honors.
HEAD COACH KYLE ROBINSON
- Head Coach Kyle Robinson enters his seventh season with the Bobcats in 2025. Robinson currently has an 82-81 (.503) record in his tenure in Hamden, including this season's matches.
- Robinson is 226-164 over his career as a collegiate head coach (7 seasons at LIU before QU).
- Robinson has firmly cemented himself as one of the premier college coaches in the NCAA's highest division. He effectively etched his signature on Quinnipiac volleyball by becoming the first head coach in program history to lead the program to an NCAA Tournament berth in 2022.
STRONG RETURNING GROUP
- The Bobcats return 10 members who were on the squad last season.
- Among those returners are Elena Giacomini, last season's MAAC Player of the Year and this season's Preseason Player of the Year, Damla Gunes, the two-time MAAC Setter of the Year, Ginevra Giovagnoni, last season's Preseason Player of the Year, and Yagmur Gunes, who was named to the 2024 MAAC All-Tournament team.
THE '25 MAAC SCHEDULE
- After competing in four non-conference tournaments, the Bobcats open MAAC Play on September 26th in Fairfield, Connecticut, against the Sacred Heart Pioneers.
- The Bobcats face the reigning MAAC Champions, Fairfield, on September 27th on the road for a rematch of last year's title game.
- Quinnipiac's first home weekend is October 3-4 as they welcome Canisius and Niagara to Burt Kahn Court.
- After a four-game road trip, the Bobcats return to Quinnipiac for a seven-game homestand, which kicks off on October 24th against Fairfield.
- The Bobcats' final regular season weekend will be spent in Western New York against Niagara and Canisius (Nov. 14-15).
- The 2025 MAAC Women's Volleyball Championship will begin on Tuesday, November 18th with the first-round contests.
