TWO-WAY PLAYERS
- Grad student forward Jack Ricketts has made a substantial impact on both ends of the ice in his one and only year in Hamden, leading the Bobcats in goals and is also third on the team and leads the forwards in blocked shots.
- The latter earned him the Best Defensive Forward accolade at the 2025 ECAC Hockey Championship awards ceremony, held Thursday night at Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid.
- He became the third consecutive Bobcat to win the award, joining Jacob Quillan in 2023-24 and Skyler Brind'Amour in 2022-23. He was also selected to the All-ECAC Second Team, which was announced the week before the quarterfinals.
DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES?
- The 2025 ECAC Hockey Championship again returns to Herb Brooks Arena and Lake Placid, N.Y., site of the 1980 Winter Olympic games that saw one of the most high-profile sports upsets in history with Team USA knocking off the Soviet Union in the medal round of the hockey tournament.
- This is the second stint in the renovated building, with the league making its first trip to the quaint, upstate New York town in 1993, holding its title there until 2002 before moving to Albany.
- The ECAC returned to the building in 2014 and have stayed for good, outside of the 2020-21 season where Quinnipiac hosted the finals as the league's highest-seeded team remaining.
WHEN THE BONES ARE GOOD...
- Sophomore forward Andon Cerbone rides an eight-game points streak heading into the ECAC Championships, the longest streak of his collegiate career and longest active stretch on the team.
- Totaling nine over the streak that began Feb. 14 at Union, it is the second-longest streak on the roster, one short of Mason Marcellus' nine-game point heater from Nov. 16 to Jan. 1.
- It also enters the week as the longest active stretch in ECAC Hockey and fifth-longest in the country, tied with Lucas Wahlin of St. Thomas.
STRIVED FOR FIVE
- For the fifth consecutive season, the Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team is the regular season champions of the ECAC, clinching it with a win over St. Lawrence on Saturday night.
- The Bobcats are the first team in league history to win five consecutive trophies and have won nine regular season championships in 12 years since their first in the 2012-13 campaign.
- They are the first NCAA Division I men's hockey team to win five consecutive regular season championships in the same league and the second to do it overall, with Minnesota State winning six consecutive trophies across the WCHA and CCHA.
SECOND IS THE BEST
- Grad student Jack Ricketts and sophomore Mason Marcellus were tabbed as Second Team All-ECAC honorees, released this week as part of the league's social media campaign honoring its star players.
- Ricketts enters quarterfinal weekend as the nation's active leading goalscorer after posting a career-high 20 this season. That mark put him second in the league and his 16 since the holiday break are the third-most in the country.
- Marcellus was a consistent offensive presence, recording a point in 24 of 34 outings en route to a career-high 24 assists. This included a nine-game point streak from Nov. 15 to Jan. 1.
