Fast Start Pushes Bobcats to Win in MAAC Opener

HAMDEN, Conn. — The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team scored six of the first seven goals and the Bobcats were off and running in their conference opener on Saturday afternoon, defeating Marist 16-7 at the QU Lacrosse Stadium.
Abby Wise recorded a career-high seven points, with four goals and three assists on the afternoon to lead a Bobcat attack that saw points from eight different players.
Mia Delmond added four goals and four ground balls, while Sophie Spencer led the team with five draw controls to go long with her three-point day.
Kat Henselder made saves on 13 of the 18 shots on cage that she saw before yielding to Lindsay Mazzucco with 7:55 left on the clock.

The Bobcats have their bye before starting a two-game road trip on Saturday, heading to Niagara to take on the Purple Eagles on April 1.

STATS AND NOTES
- The seven points from Wise today are the most by a Bobcat since Gabby Beckett hit that number against Manhattan on April 11, 2021. Her previous career high was the three she recorded on opening day, a 16-11 victory over Sacred Heart on Feb. 15.
- For the second consecutive game, the Bobcats matched their season-high in goals with 16 on the day.
- Delmond extended her goal streak to seven straight games, now sitting with 15 tallies on the season. She also matched her season-high in ground balls of four that she also grabbed against LIU on Feb. 18.
- It also ties Desiree Kleberg's mark of four for the most by a Bobcat in a game this season.
- Spencer matches her career-high of five draw controls. She last hit that number on March 6, 2019 in a 19-10 victory over Hartford.
