HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's volleyball team will be back on the road for its final non-conference tournament of the season, heading to Philadelphia for the Cherry and White Invitational. The three-day invitational includes the Bobcats, Dartmouth, Presbyterian, and the hosts, Temple. Quinnipiac kicks off play on Friday, September 19th, against Dartmouth at 4 PM.
The Bobcats will battle the hosts on Saturday, September 20th, with the start time slated for noon. The match against the Owls can be seen on ESPN+. QU will play their final game in Philadelphia on Sunday at 12 PM against Presbyterian.

LOOKING AHEAD
- Conference play will get underway for the Bobcats next week as they will travel to face Sacred Heart (Sept. 26) and Fairfield (Sept. 27).
- QU will then face their travel partner, Merrimack, on Tuesday, September 30th, with the start time slated for 6 PM from North Andover, Massachusetts.
LOOKING BACK
- Last time out, the Bobcats went 0-3 at the College of Charleston Invitational.
- On the opening day of the Invitational, the Bobcats dropped the four-set match to Stetson. Elena Giacomini led the way for the Bobcats, recording 23 kills in the match. Yagmur Hines also reached double-digit kills, as she recorded ten in the effort.
- On Saturday night, Quinnipiac was swept by the College of Charleston. Giacomini led the Bobcats in kills as she recorded 15 in the loss.
- In the Bobcats' final match of the weekend, QU dropped the five-set match to Youngstown State. Giacomini and Gunes both recorded double-digit kills, and Damla Gunes recorded 44 assists in the loss.
2024 SEASON REWIND
- The Bobcats finished the season with 19 wins, including a five-game winning streak to close out the regular season.
- The Bobcats finished 15-3 in MAAC play, which locked them into the No. 2 seed for the 2024 MAAC Championships.
- QU defeated No. 3 Rider, 3-1, in the MAAC Semifinals to punch their ticket to the title game.
- Quinnipiac ultimately fell in four sets to in-state rival Fairfield as their season came to an end.
PRESEASON ACCOLADES
- Quinnipiac women's volleyball was selected to finish second in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the league office on August 20th.
- Elena Giacomini was named the MAAC Preseason Player of the Year after winning the MAAC Player of the Year award last season.
- Along with Giacomini being named to the All-MAAC Preseason team, Ginevra Giovagnoni and Damla Gunes also earned those honors.
HEAD COACH KYLE ROBINSON
- Head Coach Kyle Robinson enters his seventh season with the Bobcats in 2025. Robinson currently has an 82-81 (.503) record in his tenure in Hamden, including this season's matches.
- Robinson is 226-164 over his career as a collegiate head coach (7 seasons at LIU before QU).
- Robinson has firmly cemented himself as one of the premier college coaches in the NCAA's highest division. He effectively etched his signature on Quinnipiac volleyball by becoming the first head coach in program history to lead the program to an NCAA Tournament berth in 2022.
STRONG RETURNING GROUP
- The Bobcats return 10 members who were on the squad last season.
- Among those returners are Elena Giacomini, last season's MAAC Player of the Year and this season's Preseason Player of the Year, Damla Gunes, the two-time MAAC Setter of the Year, Ginevra Giovagnoni, last season's Preseason Player of the Year, and Yagmur Gunes, who was named to the 2024 MAAC All-Tournament team.
THE '25 MAAC SCHEDULE
- After competing in four non-conference tournaments, the Bobcats open MAAC Play on September 26th in Fairfield, Connecticut, against the Sacred Heart Pioneers.
- The Bobcats face the reigning MAAC Champions, Fairfield, on September 27th on the road for a rematch of last year's title game.
- Quinnipiac's first home weekend is October 3-4 as they welcome Canisius and Niagara to Burt Kahn Court.
- After a four-game road trip, the Bobcats return to Quinnipiac for a seven-game homestand, which kicks off on October 24th against Fairfield.
- The Bobcats' final regular season weekend will be spent in Western New York against Niagara and Canisius (Nov. 14-15).
- The 2025 MAAC Women's Volleyball Championship will begin on Tuesday, November 18th with the first-round contests.
