No. 12 Bobcats Drop OT Contest with No. 19 Clarkson
2/28/2025 11:11:00 PM | Men's Ice Hockey
HAMDEN, Conn. — The No. 12 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey program rallied from a 2-0, third-period deficit to tie the game twice but surrendered an overtime goal with less than 10 seconds remaining to No. 19 Clarkson as the Golden Knights postponed the Bobcats' Cleary Cup aspirations for one more night, winning the matchup 4-3.
With the win, Clarkson remains mathematically alive for the ECAC's regular season trophy but Quinnipiac can clinch it outright with just a point on Saturday night.
Quinnipiac erased its two-goal deficit in the third with goals from Jack Ricketts and Andon Cerbone just 2:13 apart to knot the contest at two.
After Clarkson scored just past the halfway point of the marker, Travis Treloar tied the game with 1:45 to go and the Bobcat net empty to send the game to overtime.
Ricketts was taken down on a play in the Bobcat zone, that Quinnipiac would later challenge unsuccessfully, and Clarkson went back the other way uncontested to score the game's deciding tally.
STATS AND NOTES
Quinnipiac needs a point to clinch its fifth straight ECAC regular season title and will look to grab it at St. Lawrence on Saturday night.
The game is slated for 7 p.m. and can be seen live on ESPN+.
