Quinnipiac Races Out, Fends Off Colgate for Second Straight Win

HAMDEN, Conn. — The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team raced out to a 6-1 lead and then kept its distance, defeating Colgate by a 13-9 final at the Quinnipiac Lacrosse Stadium on Saturday morning.
The Bobcats had five different players score in that stretch, highlighted by a pair from EllaGrace Delmond to give the hosts and early five-goal advantage. They would not let Colgate get closer than three the rest of the way.
Cate Bendowski had a career day, scoring four times including after a coast-to-coast clear from Caelan O'Connor, to power the Bobcat attack.
Abby Wise continued her hot start to the year, recording a three-point day as part of a balanced Bobcat attack that saw five players score multiple goals.
Shannon Alden was a standout in net, as the first-year netminder stopped 15 of Colgate's 24 shots on cage.

- Bendowski now has six tallies through the first two games of the season and her four-goal output is a new collegiate best, only higher than the three she had at Marist on March 27, 2024.
- Miller-Ayala continued her all-around campaign, recording points, a ground ball, caused turnover and draw control for the second consecutive game.
- Alden's 15 saves are the most by a Bobcat netminder since Kat Henselder had 16 at UMass Lowell on March 1, 2023.
- It is also the most saves by a Bobcat first year since March 2012, when Samantha Tilts had 16 against Vermont.
- Quinnipiac has scored 35 goals over their first two games of the season, the most in a two-goal span since April 9 and 11, 2021 when they scored that number against Manhattan.
- It is also tied for the most goals over a two-game stretch in the last 13 years.
