FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Quinnipiac baseball team will make the short trip to Fairfield, CT to take on the Sacred Heart Pioneers in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday, May 14th. The first pitch from Veterans Park is set for noon.
HISTORY VS. SACRED HEART
- Tuesday's matchup will be the 51st time the two programs will be facing off.
- Sacred Heart leads the all-time series, 26-24, dating back to March 24, 2001.
- In their last matchup, Sacred Heart defeated the Bobcats by a final score of 12-6 in Hamden. The Pioneers scored seven runs in the fifth inning to lead them to the win.
- Five different Bobcats drove in a run and six different Bobcats recorded a hit in the effort.
- Sacred Heart enters the weekend series at a 27-20 overall record and a 22-8 mark in the NEC, which has them in first place in the conference.
- The Pioneers are coming off a weekend series win over the CCSU Blue Devils. Sacred Heart won the opening game of the series, 5-1, before securing the series win with a game two victory, 7-5. CCSU avoided the sweep as they took the series finale by a score of 6-4.
- Tim McGuire has played in 41 games with 39 starts for the Pioneers and leads the team with a .340 batting average. McGuire has recorded 35 RBIs and holds an on-base percentage of .431.
- Joe Trombley has made 12 appearances for the Pioneers and holds a record of 2-2. Trombley has recorded 34 strikeouts in 53.2 innings pitch while boasting an ERA of 3.86.
- The Bobcats took the series from the Saint Peter's Peacocks by winning the final two games of the series.
- After QU dropped the opening game, 7-4, the Bobcats exploded for 10 runs in a win on Senior Day. Kyle Garbowski went 3-for-3 and drove in a team-high four RBIs.
- The Bobcats and Peacocks played their series finale on Saturday at the University of Hartford and the Bobcats came back to clinch the series win.
- James Marino had a big day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs batted in. Matt Alduino earned the win after pitching 4.0 innings in relief with three strikeouts.

- O'Connor drove in a game-high 7 runs in a win over Saint Peter's (5/11).
- Sebastian Mueller was named to the 2023 MAAC All-Academic Team
- Mueller played in 56 games and made 55 starts as a junior
- In 225 at-bats just a season ago, Mueller had a batting average of .311.
- He hit 18 homers, to lead the team, and drove in 54 runs.
- Mueller went 4-for-7 and drove in a season high 8 runs in a win over Saint Peter's (5/11)
- The Bobcats return 23 players from last season's team.
- Sophomore Matt Alduino will be a key returner as he earned 2023 All-Rookie honors for his incredible campaign. Alduino led the team with a 4.50 ERA and 1.38 WHIP.
- Starting Pitchers, Mason Ulsh and Jimmy Hagan will also play a key role this season. Hagan will return to the mound after being shut down last season. Ulsh will look to play off his solid sophomore season.
- Other key returners include Braydon Seaburg, John Heitzman, Sean Swenson, Aaron Zenus, Matt DeRosa, Sam Favieri, Frank Craska, and Andrew Rubayo.
LOTS OF NEW FACES
- Quinnipiac welcomes 13 new faces to their campus this season.
- The Bobcats used the transfer portal to fill any openings and grabbed Dominick Proctor (Bryant and Stratton), CJ Willis (Western New England), Skyler Manelski (Linfield University), Jack Kabel (Nichols College), Gabe Wright (Indian River State College), Brett Leighton (Gettysburg), and Jack Gannon (Saint Peter's).
- Quinnipiac also brought in six first years, Spencer Chard (Newtown, Conn.), Kyle Garbowski (New Fairfield, Conn.), Raymond McNaught (East Bridgewater, Mass.), Andrew Hearn (Westfield, Mass.), James Fahan (Stamford, Conn.), and Sam Ametrano (Guilford, Conn.).
- The Bobcats will wrap up their regular season conference schedule with a three-game series at Fairfield. The Bobcats and Stags will kick off the series on Thursday, May 16th at 3 PM.
