HAMDEN, Conn—The Quinnipiac women's softball team will begin a ten-game home stand on Sunday, April 2 as they open MAAC play against Niagara. The Bobcats will host five doubleheaders in a row before hitting the road again. QU will play MAAC opponents Niagara (Apr. 2) and Canisius (Apr. 3) before a non-conference matchup against Sacred heart on Tuesday, April 4. All three matchups will be streamed on gobobcats.com.

Last Time Out
- Quinnipiac dropped a close single game matchup to CCSU, 8-7 on Friday, March 31.
- Lala Pascual hit her first home-run of the year in the first inning to give the Bobcats an early 2-1 lead.
- The Blue Devils took control of the game in the third inning with six runs in the bottom half of the frame.
- QU battled back in the top of the fifth by cutting the Blue Devils lead to two runs and one more in the seventh, but it wasn't enough.
- Pascual has gone 7-7 through her last three games with 6 RBIs, four doubles, and two runs.
- Niagara is 2-15 overall on the year.
- Their most recent matchup was back on March 14, where the Purple Eagles lost 2-1 in six innings to Hawaii on the road.
- Niagara is coming off of an almost month-long break in regular season play.
SCOUTING CANISIUS
- Canisius is 10-11 on the year thus far and is currently on a three-game losing streak.
- The Griffins are slated to play a doubleheader against Marist before heading to Hamden for two.
- Their most recent loss came against Syracuse by a score of 7-4.
- The Griffins took the lead in the second inning but gave up three runs in the top of the next frame.
- Saige Alfaro had two hits and two RBIs in game two against Syracuse.
Welcome to the Pack
- QU welcomes seven fresh faces to the pack ahead of the 2023 season.
- First years Sofia Vega, Mary Fogg, Mac Davis, Ally Hotchstadter, Natalia Apatiga, and Kennedy Demott.
- Amanda Engel transferred to Quinnipiac from San Francisco State where she was named an NFCS All-American Scholar Athlete during her time there.
- Mary Fogg is the younger sister of senior Serena Fogg.
- The six new Bobcats have combined to bring in seven years of experience in leadership roles as team captains, five different All-League selections, and three MVP awards among other distinguished honors.
- Head Coach Hillary Smith enters her fifth season with the Bobcats after being named the eighth coach in program history.
- Coach Smith has brought in six new faces to the program and welcomed back two graduate students for their fifth years.
- Assistant coach Mandie Perez enters her second season with the Bobcats.
- Perez helped Smith see the Bobcats earn two All-MAAC honors at the end of the 2022 season.
- Sophomore Sydney Horan was named the MAAC Co-Pitcher of the Week for her efforts during the Hampton/Norfolk State Tournament where she posted 13 strikeouts and two shutouts against Lehigh and Bucknell.
- Sophomore Jackie Gonzalez was named the MAAC Pitcher of the Week for her efforts during the Red Storm Classic. Gonzalez went 2-0 on the weekend, tossing 16.0 scoreless innings for QU. Pitching just six hits and striking out 11 hitters. She had an ERA of .52 and the lowest ERA in the MAAC.
- Senior Lala Pasucal earned MAAC Player of the Week honors after going 5-5 through two matchups against Holy Cross in the Bobcats home opener. Pascual put up four RBIs and three doubles in the 5-1 and 8-0 victories over the Crusaders.
