LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – The Quinnipiac baseball team continues its 2023 campaign on Friday, as the Bobcats head to Lawrenceville to open a three-game set with MAAC foe Rider, with game one beginning at 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Bobcats continued their 2023 campaign this past Wednesday is Quinnipiac shutout their crosstown rivals Yale, 1-0, on the road
- Kyle Maves added two hits
- John Heitzman doubled in the contest while Anthony Donofrio contributed a hit as well
- Matt Alduino (1-0) earned the first win of his collegiate career, tossing two perfect innings in relief, adding three strikeouts in the outing
- Mike Poncini earned his second save of the season, tossing two scoreless innings to close the door

- The Broncs own a 13-7 record all-time against the Bobcats
- Rider has claimed victory in three of the last four matchups

- Jared Zimbardo returns to Hamden for his junior campaign
- Zimbardo is batting .273 and is tied for the team lead in hits with 18

- Zimbardo batted a career-best .307 and boasted 50 hits and an on-base percentage of .380 last season
- He recorded career highs in runs scored (28), doubles (11), triples (2), home runs (6), RBIs (24), and stolen bases (7)
- His 50 hits were tied for third on the team last season
- Anthony Donofrio was the lone Quinnipiac player to earn All-MAAC Preseason honors heading into 2023
- Donofrio is batting .295 on the season
- He's ranks second on the team with 18 hits
- Donofrio leads the team with three homers and 13 RBIs
- In a 4-0 weekend for the Bobcats at UMES, Donofrio batted .412 with seven hits, including two doubles, two homers, and six RBIs

- QU baseball head coach John Delaney announced a new team member, signing six-year-old Cameron Wilson through Team IMPACT in a press conference held in the Mount Carmel Campus Rec Center on Feb. 12, 2022
