Bobcats Blank Yale on the Road

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac baseball team snapped its three-game skid, shutting out crosstown rivals Yale, 1-0, Wednesday afternoon at George H.W. Bush '48 Field.
With the win, the Bobcats improved to 6-11 overall on the season, while the Bulldogs fell to 4-10 on the 2023 campaign with the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bobcats struck first in the top of the second after John Heitzman scored on an RBI groundout to second from McGwire Tuffy to put Quinnipiac ahead 1-0.
With Quinnipiac leading 1-0, the Bulldogs loaded the bases with nobody out in the fifth inning. However, the Bobcats escaped the jam behind a strikeout from Ryan Hutchinson, followed by a double-play to escape the jam.
Defense ruled the afternoon, as the Bobcats continued to make highlight-worthy defensive plays, led by an unassisted inning-ending double-play courtesy of Matt Alduino.
Leading 1-0 through seven, the Bobcats gave the ball to Mike Poncini who tossed two shutout innings in relief to earn the save as Quinnipiac held on for the shutout over Yale.
