DOVER, DEL. – Quinnipiac volleyball continues its 2022 season on the road, as the Bobcats head to Dover for the Delaware State Invitational for the weekend. QU opens the tournament on Friday against Hartford at 7 p.m., followed by a Saturday contest vs. Delaware State at noon.

DOVER, DEL. – Quinnipiac volleyball continues its 2022 season on the road, as the Bobcats head to Dover for the Delaware State Invitational for the weekend. QU opens the tournament on Friday against Hartford at 7 p.m., followed by a Saturday contest vs. Delaware State at noon.
THE MATCHUP: vs. DELAWARE STATE
- Delaware State and Quinnipiac will meet for the fifth time in the two programs' history
- Delaware State owns a 4-0 record over QU, coming away with a 3-1 victory over the Bobcats on Sept. 5, 2015
- Delaware State enters the weekend 1-2, coming off five-set victory over the University of Idaho this past Saturday
- Karen Cordero leads the Hornets with 40 kills in three matches
- Hartford and Quinnipiac will meet for the 18th time on Saturday
- The Hawks have claimed victory in 16 of the 17 matches
- The last time the two sides had a match, the Hawks came away with a three set victory on Sept. 3, 2021 at the Yale Invitational
- Maggie Baker led the Bobcats with 18 kills, while Chole Ka'ahanui contributed 38 assists
- Hartford enters the weekend at 0-3 and is led by Uzezi Ijoma's 23 kills
- The Bobcats went 0-2 in its two matches against Stony Brook and Fordham
- QU fell in three sets against Stony Brook in the season-opener, but took Fordham to five sets before ultimately falling
- The first-years shined against Fordham, as Damla Gunes led the way with 55 assists and 12 digs, while Ginevra Giovagnoni led Quinnipiac with 22 kills
- First year Ginevra Giovagnoni was named the MAAC Player of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday, Aug. 30
- This is the first weekly award honor for Giovagnoni this season after just two games played
- She combined to tally a team-best 31 kills, 15 digs, two service aces and a block in Quinnipiac's opening matches against Stony Brook and Fordham
- Giovagnoni recorded nine kills, eight digs and two service aces in the Bobcats' opener at Stony Brook
- She followed that performance with a team-high 22 kills with a blistering .409 attack-percentage and seven digs against Fordham
- Giovagnoni's 31 kills on the season ranks fourth in the MAAC, while her 3.88 kills per set is tops in the conference
- First year Damla Gunes has made an instant impact for the Bobcats through two games
- Gunes' 64 assists on the season is tops on the team and ranks fourth in the MAAC
- Gunes tallied 55 assists and 12 digs against Fordham on Aug. 27 for the first double-double of her collegiate career
- She is the first player to tally 50 or more assists in a match since Chloe Ka'ahanui posted 53 assists against Holy Cross on Aug. 27, 2021
- Her 55 assists in the contest stands as the most assists in a match by a MAAC team this season
- The Bobcats will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 9 when they open play at the Comfort Inn-Vitational, hosted by Morehead State
- QU will take on Morehead State on Sept. 9 at 11 a.m., followed by a contest against North Alabama at 4:30 p.m.
- The Bobcats will wrap up play at the tournament against Robert Morris on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 11 a.m.
- The Bobcats were selected No. 3 in the 2022 Women's Volleyball Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the MAAC office on Friday, Aug. 19
- The Bobcats earned one first-place vote and 76 points in the poll, finishing just behind Rider (80 points) and Fairfield (99 points) for the top spot
- Graduate student middle blocker Nicole Legg – Quinnipiac's leader in blocks from a season ago – was named to the Preseason All-MAAC team for Quinnipiac
- The All-MAAC selection from a season ago posted 10 matches in 2021 where tallied 10 or more kills, including a 14-kill outing against Marist on Nov. 6, where she added a career-high 10 blocks for the double-double.

- The Bobcats return to Hamden for their 2022 home opener on Burt Kahn Court with a Wednesday night matchup with Marist on Oct. 5
- QU follows with a run of three straight home games against Iona (Oct. 8), Manhattan (Oct. 9) and Siena (Oct. 12), before heading back on the road for bouts with Rider (Oct. 15) and Saint Peter's (Oct. 16)
- QU earned 11 wins in last season, including nine against MAAC opponents
- Earning All-MAAC First Team honors as a senior in 2021, Nicole Legg returns as a graduate student
- Legg's 247 kills ranked second on the team and 11th in the MAAC, while she ranked third in total blocks (99) and led the conference with a .398 attack-percentage
- Aryanah Diaz returns for her senior campaign after leading the Bobcats and ranking eighth in the MAAC with 293 kills in 2021
- Diaz tallied 339 digs in 2021, the second most on the team
