RICHMOND, Va. – The Quinnipiac baseball team heads south to Virginia for the weekend for a three-game road series with VCU, beginning on Friday. First pitch from game one is set for 6:30 p.m. on ESPN+ from The Diamond.

The Bobcats return to action after downing in-state foe Hartford, 7-5, this past Tuesday
Kyle Maves went 3-for-5 with four RBIs and a triple in the victory
Anthony Donofrio contributed two hits and two RBIs
Tate Copeland got the start and took the no-decision after tossing 2.2 innings of shutout ball

QU baseball head coach John Delaney announced a new team member, signing six-year-old Cameron Wilson through Team IMPACT in a press conference held in the Mount Carmel Campus Rec Center on Feb. 12
He will participate in many activities with the baseball team over the next two years, including games, practices, and other team events

Seeing Ian

Quinnipiac's leading returning hitter, Ian Ostberg, tallied 23 hits last season and tallied 14 runs
Ostberg registered multiple hits in four games last season, including three hits in two contests
A member of the 2019 All-MAAC First Team, Ostberg recorded just one error in 46 chances last season
He led the Bobcats with five stolen bases in 2021
Went 3 for 4 with a three-run home run and finished with four RBIs, two runs scored and two stolen bases in an 11-1 win vs. Siena on April 9

Call Me Maves

Kyle Maves returns for his senior campaign after batting a career-high .271 in 21 games last season
Recorded 16 hits with three doubles, nine runs scored, six RBIs and four stolen bases in 2021
Maves is batting .439 on the season with 18 hits and 11 runs scored
He leads the team in batting average (.439), runs scored (11), walks (8) and steals (8)

Sebastian Mueller's Day Off

Sebastian Mueller returns for his sophomore campaign after finishing sixth on the team in hits (20)
Tied for third on the team with two home runs last season
Recorded three doubles and two home runs along with nine RBIs and nine runs scored
Mueller boasts a .237 batting average with a homer and eight RBIs on the short campaign
In the opening weekend at Saint Joseph's, Mueller batted .308 with four hits and five RBIs

Saint Anthony Donofrio

A transfer from SUNY Cortland, Anthony Donofrio took no time at all to adjust to find his fit in the Bobcats' lineup
Donofrio is batting .365 and is tops on the team in hits (19), RBIs (11), runs scored (11), doubles (4) and a homer
In the opening weekend at Saint Joseph's, Donofrio batted .462 with six hits, five RBIs and two stolen bases
In just his second game in a Bobcats' uniform, Donofrio went 4-for-4 from the plate with two runs scored vs. Saint Joseph's on Feb. 19
He followed that performance with two hits and four RBIs in an 18-8 victory over Saint Joseph's on Feb. 20

Handy Danny

Junior Danny Melnick got off to a hot start to open the season
He boasts a .317 batting average on the season
Melnick has tallied 10 RBIs and four doubles on the season
Melnick led the offense in the opening series at Saint Joseph's, batting .600 with six hits, four runs scored and four RBIs in just two games played
Melnick went 3-for-5 with a double, a run scored and two RBI against Saint Joseph's on Feb. 19
He followed that performance with three hits, a homer, three runs scored and four RBIs in an 18-8 victory over Saint Joseph's on Feb. 20

Gritty Garcia

Junior Brandyn Garcia has assumed the role of ace of the staff this season
Garcia is 2-2 on the season and boasts 25 strikeouts in 21 innings pitched
Garcias has earned a win in consecutive starts, with his most recent win coming in a 6-5 victory over George Mason on March 11
He logged seven innings and struck out 10 in the appearance

The Bobcats will be back in action on Tuesday, March 22 when they travel to take on in-state rival Yale
