All Five Bobcats Improve from Second to Third Round

Beallsville, Md. - Quinnipiac women's golf sophomore Queenie Lai placed in the top five at the Hoya Women's Invitational, hosted by Georgetown, on Monday and Tuesday. Lai posted a 54-hole score of 222 (+6) to earn fifth place out of 46 golfers.

As a team, the Bobcats finished sixth overall, four strokes behind St. John's for fifth.

NOTES

Lai birdied the 11th hole, giving her six birdies in the tournament. After starting +2 through ten holes, the Hong Kong native parred seven straight holes and finished with a 75 (+3).
Luciana Tobia played the front nine in 37 strokes (+1) and birdied the 11th hole, finishing with her second sub-80 round of the tournament. Tobia's 54-hole score of +21 placed her in a tie for 29th overall.
After two straight rounds of 80, Alexandra Sahzin posted a final round scorecard that included three birdies and nine pars, en route to a final round 76 (+4). The junior finished 28th overall at +20, but her final round score was tied for 15th best on Tuesday.
Elena Lopez continued to improve with each round of the event, finishing with a 76 (+4) thanks to two birdies and a +1 back nine. Lopez finished the tournament with five birdies in her last two rounds.
Elena Ybarra showed the largest improvement in the final round, improving by seven strokes from the first round to the last. Her final round 78 ties for her second-lowest score of the spring season and moved her up four spots to a tie for 36th.
Freshman Darby Lillibridge, competing as an indiviudal gofler, finished her tournament with an 84, resulting in a 248 (+32) for the week.

UPCOMING EVENTS
The Bobcats will compete at the Hartford Invitational this weekend in their final tournament before the MAAC Championship. The Hartford Invitational runs from April 13-April 14 at Tumble Brook Country Club.
