Bobcats Edged by Hawks in Doubleheader

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - The Quinnipiac Bobcats' six-game win streak was snapped by the Monmouth Hawks in Saturday's MAAC doubleheader. The Hawks took the first game, 3-0, and won the second game with a game-winning run in the seventh inning, 4-3. Quinnipiac moves to 11-20 overall and 4-2 in conference. Monmouth now sits at the top of the MAAC with a 6-0 record and is 20-11 overall.
Game 1 Highlights
Second Inning - Quinnipiac started the scoring off in the second inning. Douglas hit a single to lead off, and freshman Hannah Davis hit a single to center, allowing Douglas to advance to second. Junior Meg Dyson recorded a single to load the bases for the Bobcats. Freshman Alexis Otero hit a two-RBI double to right center, sending Douglas and Davis home. With Dyson and Otero on base, Jensen reached first on a fielder's choice and advanced to second on the throw, Otero advanced to third and Dyson scored.
The Bobcats scored all three runs in the second inning to take a 3-0 lead. The Hawks would come storming back to tie the game in the fifth inning with a three-run homerun from Kayla Rosado. Monmouth would score once more in the bottom of the sevent inning to win the game.

Quinnipiac will face Fairfield on Sunday, April 7 at 12 and 2 p.m., to continue MAAC play.

- Sophomore Brighid Douglas led the team in the first game, going 1-3.
- Senior Kendall Brundrett (4-13) pitched six innings for the Bobcats, recording four strikeouts.
- Alyssa Irons pitched all seven innings for the Hawks, tallying six strikeouts, and limiting the Bobcats to only one hit.
