Softball Continues MAAC Play at Monmouth, Fairfield

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac softball team (11-18, 4-0 MAAC) will hit the road to face Monmouth (18-11, 4-0 MAAC) and Fairfield (13-11, 0-2 MAAC) on Saturday and Sunday to continue MAAC play. The Bobcats are on a six-game winning streak after opening conference play, 4-0, and sweeping Yale in a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 3.

Quinnipiac opened MAAC play with two sweeps against Manhattan and Saint Peter's to start conference play undefeated. During the week, the Bobcats traveled to New Haven to face the Yale Bulldogs. Quinnipiac came away with two wins after beating Yale, 9-0 (6 innings) and 8-3. Freshmen Brooklyn Maguire and Lauren King both recorded wins from in the circle.

Red-shirt Senior Jen Fay, of the Quinnipiac women's basketball team, walked on to the softball team this week and will play this weekend against the Jaspers and Peacocks.
Scouting the Hawks
The Hawks and the Bobcats are the only teams that are undefeated in conference play as of April 4. The Hawks (18-11) are coming off a four-game road sweep of Canisius and Niagara. Kayla Rosado leads the team with a .341 average with eight runs, 29 hits and seven doubles. Alyssa Irons leads the Hawks in the circle with a 1.71 ERA after 123.0 innings pitched.

The Bobcats dropped both games against the Hawks last year, and Quinnipiac is looking to keep the winning streak going back into conference play.
Notes on the Stags
Fairfield is 13-11 coming into the weekend. The Stags won a Wednesday game against URI, 5-4. Amanda Ulzheimer leads Fairfield with a .382 average on 14 runs, 26 hits, two doubles and one triple. Katie Kudlacik is 7-3 in the circle with a 3.50 ERA through 60 innings pitched and has tallied 44 strikeouts.
