TOURNAMENT NOTES
Tabbed as the largest collegiate golf tournament in the country, the 2019 edition of the Kiawah Island Spring Classic has expanded from 43 teams to 49 in this year's field and will be played for the fifth time in its history at Osprey Point at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort on Kiawah Island, S.C. Two courses are used for the three-day, 54-hole tournament including Oak Point. After 36 holes of play, the Top 24 teams will play for the championship at Osprey Point during the final round, while teams 25-49 will play for a flight championship at Oak Point. Last year, led by a record-breaking performance by sophomore Alexandra Sazhin (New Fairfield, Connecticut), the Bobcats finished 21st overall out of 42 teams and grabbed the flight championship as the top finisher at Oak Point Golf Course.
MAAC PRESEASON COACHES POLL
The Quinnipiac University women's golf team was picked second in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the conference via social media on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019. The Bobcats enter the Spring semester just one season removed from a pair of MAAC Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances after winning titles in 2016 and 2017.
QUOTING HEAD COACH JOHN O'CONNOR
"This team expects to be in the hunt for another conference championship," said Head Coach John O'Connor. "We will continue to practice the way we have with the focus on being stronger and hungrier to get better and winning. Our four great freshmen push everyone on this team to be better and work harder. This is the best team that I've coached and my expectations are high for them."
