
QU Men's Tennis Falls Short in Upset Bid at Brown, 4-3

PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island – The Quinnipiac men's tennis team played one of their best matches this spring as came up just short against their Ivy League opponent the Brown Bears, 4-3, on Saturday evening.
Quinnipiac (4-2, 2-0 MAAC) lost its second match of the spring while Brown (4-1) won its third straight match of the season.
Freddie Zaretsky (Fair Lawn, New Jersey) and Julian Rozenstein (Marlboro, New Jersey) each picked up their first singles victories of the spring for the Bobcats while Jonas Kuwert (Jesteberg, Germany), Willem van Biezen (Warmond, The Netherlands), Kei Ezaka (Ojai, California) and Kyle Alper (Dix Hills, New York) all picked up wins in doubles play.
The Bobcats picked up the first point of the day by winning two of the three doubles matches. Kuwert and van Biezen teamed up to win the first match of the day for the Bobcats as they breezed past Brown's No. 1 doubles team for the match of Mladen Mitak and Jack Haworth, 6-1. Brown tied up the match with a win of their own as Charles Tan and Aaron Sandberg teamed up to take on Luke Roser (Bernardsville, New Jersey) and Zaretsky, winning 6-1. With the match tied up, Ezaka and Alper teamed up to face Gregory Garcia and Austin Hearst in a lengthy battle to win the match, 7-6 (3).
Zaretsky rebounded in singles play for the Bobcats to take two points in singles matches. Zaretsky battled against Mitak at No. 2 singles, blanking him in the first set and winning the match, 6-0, 6-3. Rozenstein also picked up his first win of the spring at No. 4 singles when he took down Sandberg, 6-2, 6-4.
Ezaka slotted into No. 1 singles for the Bobcats but lost against Peter Tarwid who moved up to No. 1 singles for the match, 6-3, 6-1. Kuwert faced off against Haworth at No. 3 singles, falling in the match to the Bear, 6-1, 6-3. At No. 5 singles against Brown's Tan won in two sets against van Biezen, 6-4, 6-0 while Anthony Arocho moved up to No. 6 singles for Brown where he took on Alper, 6-4, 6-4.
The Quinnipiac men's tennis team has nearly three weeks off before returning to the courts down in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where they will take on the Saint Joseph's Hawks on Feb. 26 at 8:30 PM before facing the Temple Owls on Feb. 27 at 6 PM.
