
QU Women's Tennis Comes Up Short Against St. Joseph's, 4-3

MEDIA, Pennsylvania – The Quinnipiac women's tennis team played a late Friday night match against the St. Joseph's Hawks and fell, 4-3, in a highly contested matchup at the Springton Tennis Club.
Quinnipiac falls to 4-4 (2-0 MAAC) with the loss while St. Joseph's improves to 2-1 with the win.
Despite the loss, Sitilia Rencheli (Sarasota, Florida) continued her incredible play in the spring season with two more victories, giving her five match victories in her last six individual matches. Rencheli was the only Bobcat to win multiple matches as Sophia Dzulynsky (Miramar, Florida), Alexandra Mircea (Glen Rock, New Jersey) and Proyfon Lohaphaisan (Santa Clarita, California) each won one victory on the day for the Bobcats.
Dzulynsky and Rencheli improved to 3-0 in doubles play this season as the pair continued their dominant play. The duo competed at No. 2 doubles taking on St. Joseph's Kristina Eisenbrand and Sarah Contrata, cruising to the 6-2 victory.
The Hawks ended up taking the doubles point with a pair of victories at No. 1 and No. 3. At No. 1 doubles, the Hawks' Alex Zachem and Claire Minnoe took the point against Rachel Horton (Stamford, Connecticut) and Lohaphaisan, 6-4. Shortly after, at No. 3 doubles, the sister-duo of Maureen Devlin and Anne Marie Devlin defeated Sydney Young (Austin, Texas) and Kelsi Oliphant (Calgary, Alberta), 6-4.
Rencheli continued her lockdown play in singles as she played at No. 3 singles against Eisenbrand, 6-0, 6-2. Mircea moved up to No. 4 singles for the Bobcats and took on Zachem with a straight set victory, 6-4, 6-4. Lohaphaisan also continued her impressive freshman season with a win at No. 6 singles against Anne Marie Devlin, 6-3, 6-2.
St. Joseph's won the other three singles matches to takes the match, 4-3. Minnoe and Dzulynsky faced off at No. 1 singles, but Minnoe just edged out the Bobcats top singles player, 6-3, 6-4. Maureen Devlin and Horton took the court against each other at No. 2 singles, with the Hawk taking the win, 6-4, 1-6, 6-2. At No. 5 singles, Arianne Polatnick took on Adrian Young (Orange Village, Ohio) and after a tight first set, Polatnick pulled away with the 7-5, 6-2 win.
