
Rachel Horton Wins Two Matches as QU Women's Tennis Drops Match at Temple, 5-2

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – The Quinnipiac women's tennis team won the doubles point against the Temple Owls Saturday as they fell, 5-2, at the Legacy Tennis Center.
Sophia Dzulynsky (Miramar, Florida) and Sitilia Rencheli (Sarasota, Florida) won their fourth straight doubles match together to go 4-0 in the spring season. Rachel Horton (Stamford, Connecticut) and Proyfon Lohaphaisan (Santa Clarita, California) teamed up once again this spring to pick up a doubles victory.
Horton also picked up the only win in singles play for the Bobcats, leading to both points in the Bobcats loss.
Temple won the first completed doubles, as Mariana Bedon and Minami Okajima knocked off Kelsi Oliphant (Calgary, Alberta) and Adrian Young (Orange Village, Ohio) at No. 3 doubles, 6-2. The Bobcats rallied to pick up two points in the doubles victory as Dzulynsky and Rencheli knocked off Yana Khon and Monet Stuckey-Willis, 6-3. In a lengthy battle at No. 1 doubles, Horton and Lohaphaisan held on to defeat Alina Abdurakhimova and Anais Nussaume, 7-6 (3).
Horton picked up the lone singles victory for the Bobcats at No. 2 singles, rallying from a tough first set where she didn't win a point but came back to beat Nussaume, 0-6, 6-4, 7-5. The Bobcats lost the rest of the singles matches in straight sets to the Owls.
The Quinnipiac women's tennis team returns to action on Friday, March 4 at 3:00 PM when they travel to West Point, New York to face the Army West Point Black Knights.
