
QU Women's Tennis Falls to Seton Hall, 6-1

NEW PROVIDENCE, New Jersey – The Quinnipiac women's tennis duo of Sophia Dzulynsky (Miramar, Florida) and Sitilia Rencheli (Sarasota, Florida) continued to shine on Sunday afternoon as they won a doubles match in the Bobcats' 6-1 loss to the Seton Hall Pirates at the Murray Hill Fitness and Tennis Center.
The Bobcats loss is their second of the spring season and third overall as they fall to 4-3 (2-0 MAAC) on the season. Seton Hall (4-2, 0-0 Big East) returned to the win column after having their three-match winning streak snapped.
Dzulynsky and Rencheli improved to 2-0 as a doubles team this season with the victory. Dzulynsky has now won 14 matches this season, including 10 in doubles play. In her career, Dzulynsky has now tallied 92 victories in her search for 100. Rencheli's doubles victory was her third of the season and second in doubles play.
The Bobcats and Pirates opened up the match with doubles play where Dzulynsky and Rencheli gave the Bobcats an early advantage for the doubles point. At No. 2 doubles, Dzulynsky and Rencheli were clicking all match long as they doubled up Julia Keenan and Katie Kim, 6-3.
Shortly after, Seton Hall's Isabell Klingert and Thandy Kangwa evened up the doubles portion of the match with a 6-2 victory over Jennifer Lu (Cypress, California) and Sydney Young (Austin, Texas). Seton Hall took the doubles point after winning the No. 1 doubles match as Luize Strike and Hannah Liljekvist edged out Rachel Horton (Stamford, Connecticut) and Proyfon Lohaphaisan (Santa Clarita, California), 6-4.
In singles play, the Bobcats got one point back as Adrian Young (Orange Village, Ohio) was slotted in at No. 6 and picked up the win by default. Dzulynsky competed at No. 1 singles against Strike where she came up short in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. The No. 2 singles match was the next match complete as Horton also fell in straight sets to Liljekvist, 6-3, 6-3. Lohaphaisan played the match at No. 5 singles against the Pirates' Keenan, but fell 6-3, 6-2. At No. 3 singles, Lu came up short for the Bobcats as she faced Klingert, 6-3, 6-3. Rencheli nearly gave the Bobcats a second point as she forced a third set with Kim at No. 4 singles but was just edged out, 3-6, 6-2, 10-8.
The Quinnipiac women's tennis team returns to action on Friday, Feb. 26 at 8:30 PM when the Bobcats will face the St. Joseph's Hawks in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
