
QU Women's Tennis Finishes Up Play at West Point Invite

WEST POINT, New York – The Quinnipiac women's tennis team wrapped up competition at the West Point Invite Sunday afternoon with Rachel Horton (Stamford, Connecticut) reaching the Flight "B" singles consolation championship match.
Horton and Proyfon Lohaphaisan (Santa Clarita, California) each picked up singles victories in the final afternoon of competition while Alexandra Mircea (Glen Rock, New Jersey) and Adrian Young (Orange Village, Ohio) won a doubles consolation match.
Horton faced NJIT's Ines Vujkovac in the semifinals of the Flight "B" singles consolation bracket where Horton cruised past Vujkovac with an 8-4 victory. Advancing to the championship match, Horton faced Army's Rugik Valunaite where she fell, 8-4. Horton is second on the team with 11 victories this season.
Horton and Lohaphaisan were also still alive in the Flight "A" doubles consolation semifinals where they faced Albany's Alba Sala and Isidora Pejovic but came up just short in the match, 6-3. Horton and Lohaphaisan have combined for a team-high nine doubles victories this season.
In other action for the Quinnipiac women's tennis team, three different Bobcats played in extra consolation matches. Lohaphaisan picked up a victory for the Bobcats in singles action as she faced Cornell's Allegra Hanlon, cruising past the member of the Big Red with an 8-4 victory.
Young and Mircea picked up the final victory of the afternoon for the Bobcats at the West Point Invite as they played against St. Bonaventure's Francesca Chin and Lauren Doversola in consolation action, as Young and Mircea battled through to come away with the tiebreaker win, 7-6 (4). _
Sophia Dzulynsky (Miramar, California) and Jennifer Lu (Cypress, California) also competed in singles action in consolation matches. Dzulynsky faced Cornell's Dena Tanenbaum but fell, 8-1 while Lu took on Albany's Paulina Torres, coming up short, 8-4.
