
QU Men's Tennis Travels to Storrs for UConn Invitational

UCONN COUNTRY
The Quinnipiac men's tennis team travels to Storrs, Connecticut this weekend for the UConn Invitational at the UConn Tennis Courts with play scheduled to begin on Friday, Sept. 25 at 2 P.M. followed by action continuing on Saturday, Sept. 26 and Sunday, Sept. 27 at 9 A.M.
CT STATE CHAMPS RECAP
It was a widely successful Connecticut State Championship tournament for the Bobcats as Luke Roser (Bernardsville, New Jersey) and Freddie Zaretsky (Fair Lawn, New Jersey) won the Flight "B" doubles championship over Anthony Savio and Derek Chapman to pick up the first flight championship of the year for the Quinnipiac men's tennis team. Outside of Roser and Zaretsky, Willem van Biezen (Warmond, The Netherlands) reached the Flight "B" singles championship match for his first finalist finish of the season.
FREDDIE
In just his second career tournament, Zaretsky picked up his first career flight championship victory at the Connecticut State Championships. Zaretsky is the team-leader in wins with an 11-3 record, and is tied for the team-lead with five singles wins and six doubles wins. Zaretsky and Roser combined to go 4-0 in their second tournament of the year.
LUKE
Roser is having a breakout season so far for the Bobcats, posting a 9-4 record overall and 6-1 mark in doubles play. The Flight "B" championship was his second straight season with a flight championship under his belt. Roser is more than halfway to his doubles wins total from last season where he tied his career-high with 10. Overall, Roser has 83 career victories, good for the most on the active roster.
WILLEM
It was a successful tournament for van Biezen as well as the sophomore for the Bobcats reached the flight championship in a tournament for the second time after winning the Flight "D" championship at the Stony Brook Invitational last season. So far, van Biezen has picked up seven wins, including five in singles play. As a freshman last season, van Biezen won 13 singles matches and 29 matches overall.
BIG JULIAN
Julian Rozenstein (Marlboro, New Jersey) had a successful weekend at the Connecticut State Championship as he won three singles matches in the Flight "A" back draw as well as a doubles match with doubles partner Kyle Alper (Dix Hills, New York). With the impressive weekend, Rozenstein now has five singles victories and three doubles victories this weekend.
KYLE
Another sophomore, Alper, picked up the 2015-16 season right where he left off in 2014-15. Alper has won eight matches overall to start the year, including five in singles play and three in doubles play. His three doubles victories are more than half of his doubles win total of five from his freshman season. Last season, Alper won the Flight "C" championship at the UConn Invitational for his second career flight championship victory.
RYOMA
Junior Ryoma Haraguchi (New York, New York) had a solid tournament weekend as well, reaching the semifinals of Flight "B" at the Connecticut State Championship. Haraguchi picked up three victories last weekend, going 3-1 in singles play and improving his overall win total to six. With four singles wins, Haraguchi has won twice as many singles matches as his sophomore season and is two singles wins away from matching his career-high.
