HANOVER, N.H. – The Quinnipiac University women's golf team completed its first round of the 2014 season with a 12th place finish, out of 13 teams, at the 2014 Dartmouth Invitational at the Hanover Country Club in Hanover, N.H.

The Bobcats battled the elements in their first time on the links this season as a storm passing through delayed play and wreaked havoc on Hanover Country Club. The results were five scoring totals 80-or-higher by the Bobcats.
"We had to deal with some very bad weather conditions today," Quinnipiac head coach John O'Connor said. "We had torrential downpours and temperatures in the low-50's for much of the afternoon. That equates to difficult playing conditions for anyone, and especially difficult for those on the course for the first time this year."
Sophomore Nicole Scola (Westerly, Rhode Island) led Quinnipiac through the first 18 holes at Hanover, carding a +8, 80 for a tie of 30th place out of the 76 competing golfers. Alexa Gentile (Avon, Connecticut) turned in Quinnipiac's second-best score on the afternoon with an 85 (+13) for a tie of 54th place. Sophomore Emily Ribbins (Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands) finished two spots behind Gentile with an 86, followed by Estefania Morales (Caracas, Venezuela) with an 87 in her first career collegiate action. Taylor Lambrou (Baldwin, New York) finished with a 90.
"I saw a lot of good decisions and good shots," O'Connor said. "It seemed as though everyone had a few bad, blow-up holes. On this course, you can't make some of those mistakes or it will cost you dearly. That happened with everyone today."

Boston University led the field with a combined 291, followed by Boston College (308), Dartmouth (309), Brown (311) and Siena (315) to round-out the top-five. Wagner (316), Williams (317), Sacred Heart (320), Merrimack and Fairfield (321) and Hartford (332) lined up in front of Quinnipiac (338), who was slotted in ahead of Holy Cross (362).
"I'm not disappointed," O'Connor noted. "I'm happy with a lot of the decisions I saw. This team will continue to improve and I'm looking forward to better scores tomorrow."
The Bobcats are back on the course in Hanover, N.H. on Sunday, Sept. 24. Gentile will tee-off at 8:40 a.m., followed by Lambrou at 8:48 a.m., Rbbins at 8:56 a.m., Morales at 9:04 a.m. and, lastly, Scola at 9:12 a.m. at Hole No. 9.
