Quinnipiac women's golf freshman Nicole Scola (Westerly, R.I.) shot a 73 on the second round of the Yale Women's Golf Intercollegiate to lead the Bobcats on the second day of the three-day tournament. Quinnipiac slipped to 16th place out of the 17-team field.
Scola followed her 76 from Friday, Sept. 20 with a 73 on the second day of the tournament. Through three tournaments, she now owns four of the top six, 18-hole rounds in the program's history. It is also her second-best 36-hold total (149) of her young career, following her 147 at the Dartmouth Women's Invitational. She currently sits in 16th place out of 91 golfers.

"Obviously, I'm very pleased with Nicole Scola's concentration and perseverance," head coach John O'Connor said. "She really played a complete round today, with a minor stumble on the last hole. All-in-all it was a near-perfect round. When she hits a less-than-perfect-shot, she's able to make it up on her next shot. She's a true competitor and a pleasure to have on the team."
Scola is on-pace to break the Quinnipic record for a 54-hole tournament, set by Kayla Ketcheson and Krissy Unger, who both carded a 242 at last season's three-day Northeast Conference Championship.
"Jenn Whaley also played well today," O'Connor said. "Emily Ribbins is turning out to be a top-quality golfer that with some more tournament experience should be a force in the MAAC. Jenn Forlenza shot another 84 - which is unbelievable. This is the toughest course we'll see, and she did it in tough conditions in that it was windy today and the course is extremely dry and fast."
Jenn Forlenza (Wayne, N.J.) bounced back from a 90 on Friday to skim six strokes off her score to finish at 84 for Saturday's round. Sophomore captain Jenn Whaley (Farmington, Conn.) matched Friday's output with an identical 82 on Saturday. Freshman Emily Ribbins (Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands) finished with an 83, two strokes higher than her first-day total while Angelica Muscatelli (No. Providence, R.I.) shot a 94.
Quinnipiac will finish up at the Yale Women's Golf Intercollegiate at The Course at Yale on Sunday, Sept. 22.
