Softball Set for Midweek Doubleheader in Boston

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac softball team ships up to Beantown for a midweek doubleheader against Boston University.

The games were originally scheduled for Wednesday, Mar. 11, but were moved up a day to avoid potential weather conditions.

Game times are set for 12:30 p.m and 2 p.m.

SCOUTING BU

The Terriers enter the weekend on a five-game win streak. Their season is highlighted by two wins against Duke who is ranked in the top 25.
First-year Irys Kline leads the team with a 0.364 BA (24-for-66) and 1.011 OPS. Kline has recorded six doubles, a triple, a homerun, and 14 RBIs.
Kasey Ricard earned Patriot League Pitcher of the Week honors after going 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA, striking out 12 batters over 18.1 innings against Yale and New Haven.

BOBCAT BREAKDOWN

The Bobcats completed their first MAAC sweep of the season over Saint Peter's this past weekend.
Sofia Vega led the team going 5-for-10 with a double and home run. Vega is currently batting 0.417 with a 1.030 OPS and eight RBIs.
Kennedy Demott posts a 0.400 batting average with a team-high four doubles, seven walks, and 1.147 OPS.
Riley Potter made a huge impact in game three against the Peacocks with a grand slam, her first of the season.
First-year pitcher Laney Adie threw the first complete game of her collegiate career, delivering five shutout innings while allowing just four hits and recording three strikeouts.

MAAC PRESEASON

The Quinnipiac Softball team was voted to 7th in the MAAC Preseason Poll after last season ended in the MAAC opening round against the Rider Broncs.
Senior outfielder Mary Fogg was named to the Preseason All-MAAC Team.
Fogg started 38 games and led the team in batting average (.333), hits (40), and multi-hit performances (9), while also being named Second Team All-MAAC.

2026 CAPTAINS

Head coach Hillary Smith named seniors Natalia Apatiga, Kennedy DeMott, and Sofia Vega captains for the 2026 season.
All three ranked among the Bobcats' top five hitters last season.

WELCOME TO THE sQUad

Quinnipiac welcomes six new faces to the 2026 roster.
The Bobcats add sophomore transfer Caelin Kosvitch (Iona), while the first-year class features Connecticut native Griffin Paladino (Fairfield), along with Kinsley Cox (Murrieta, CA), Laney Adie (Washington, NJ), CJ Harris (Annapolis, MD), and Jasmine Kline (Gettysburg, PA).

KEY RETURNERS

The Bobcats return 16 players from last year's team.
Mary Fogg returns after a standout All-MAAC Second Team season, leading QU in various categories. Fogg was also named All-MAAC First Team and Rookie Team in 2023.
Madison Waltke was named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team in 2025. Waltke finished conference play with the fourth best batting average on QU at .302 and the team-best OPS at .888.

Junior catcher Riley Potter posted a 0.267 batting average, recording 31 hits and a team-high 10 doubles.

LAST SEASON

QU is coming off its best MAAC record in the past eight seasons, finishing conference play at 14-11.

LEADING THE BOBCATS

Head Coach Hillary Smith enters her eighth season with the Bobcats after being named the eighth coach in program history.
Assistant coach Xen Penny enters his first season with the Bobcats.
QU Softball alum Hannah Davis also joins the coaching staff for her first season.
