
Baseball Drops Midweek Contest at River Hawks

Christian Smith had a hit and drove in a pair of runs for Quinnipiac, while Alex Irizarry went 3-for-5 with a double. 9 different Bobcats recorded a hit in the contest.
Griffin Seibel made the start on the mound for QU, and five different Bobcats pitched in total.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bobcats took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. CJ Willis plated Johnny Knox on a single, Sebastian Mueller scored Willis with a triple down the right field line, then Christian Smith made it 3-0 with an RBI groundout.
The River Hawks cut into the deficit with a two-run homerun from River Hart in the bottom half of the first inning.
Kyle Garbowski scored another Quinnipiac run on a groundout in the top of the second, making it 4-2 Bobcats.
Hart would homer again for the River Hawks in the third, tying things 4-4.
Johnny Knox scored once again in the fourth inning on a wild pitch, then James Marino lengthened the QU lead with a triple in the fifth (6-4 Bobcats).
UMass Lowell plated six straight runs to take a 10-6 lead, before Christian Smith singled in another Quinnipiac run in the sixth inning of action.
The River Hawks then scored three more runs in the sixth, and two more in the eighth to help clinch a home win.
NEWS AND NOTES
- Christian Smith now leads QU with 51 RBI's on the season. His two-RBI night is his 13th game of the season with multiple runs batted in.
- Alex Irizarry now has 53 hits on the season after a three-hit contest. It's his 5th game of the season with three or more hits.
- Garbowski, Mueller, Willis and Marino each drove in a run for the Bobcats, as well. Willis is up to 48 RBI's (second on the team), and Mueller has 44 RBI's (third on the team) in 2025.
- Griffin Seibel worked the first 3.0 innings for the Bobcats, giving up three earned runs and striking out one batter.
- Ryan O'Connell tossed the next 1.1 innings in relief, then Jack Kabel went 1.0 innings.
- Josh Lajoie registered five outs before turning the ball over to Johnny Knox, who threw a scoreless eighth inning.
- QU had 11 hits in total, marking the 26th game of the year with 10 or more hits.
- Quinnipiac will return to action at Mount St. Mary's on Friday, May 2 to continue MAAC play.
