Bobcats Earn Series Win Over Iona

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac Bobcats secured the series win over the Gaels as they won game two of the series, 8-4, on Saturday, March 8th in Hamden.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After two scoreless innings, the Bobcats came out swinging in the third inning as they hung four runs in the inning. Johnny Knox brought home the first run of the game as he drew a bases-loaded walk, bringing home Sebastian Mueller. Jackson Bryan followed up with a two-run single to make it a 3-0 lead for the Bobcats. Gabe Wright brought home the final run of the inning as he reached on a bunt single.
Iona immediately responded in the top of the fourth inning as they scored two runs to make it a 4-2 game. The Gaels held the Bobcats off the board and scored another run in the seventh inning to make it a 4-3 game.
Quinnipiac responded in the seventh inning as they brought home three runs to make it a 7-3 game. CJ Willis scored two runs as he hit a double to center field. Willis would score later in the inning as Quinnipiac took a four-run lead into the 8th inning.
Sebastian Mueller blasted a solo home run in the bottom of the 8th inning to give the Bobcats an 8-3 lead heading into the final inning. Iona would score one in the ninth, but that's where the scoring would stop, as the Bobcats sealed the 8-4 win.
