HAMDEN, Conn. – No. 8 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey returns to the ice this weekend with a home-and-home series with Providence, looking to jump out to a 4-0 start.
The Bobcats will head to Providence for Friday night's contest before both teams head back to Hamden for a Saturday matinee at M&T Bank Arena.

HAMDEN, Conn. – No. 8 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey returns to the ice this weekend with a home-and-home series with Providence, looking to jump out to a 4-0 start.
The Bobcats will head to Providence for Friday night's contest before both teams head back to Hamden for a Saturday matinee at M&T Bank Arena.
SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
- The Friars will hit the ice for the first time in regular season action this weekend after defeating Sacred Heart 6-1 in exhibition action last weekend.
- Four players recorded multi-point games in the outing while three freshmen got on the scoresheet.
- Providence is coming off a 20-12-3 season in 2024-25, with a 16-9-2 resume in Hockey East action.
WATTY WATTY
- Sophomore Makayla Watson is picking up right where she left off from her ECAC All-Rookie campaign a season ago, totaling four points on the opening weekend to earn ECAC Defender of the Week honors.
- She followed up an assist on Friday night with a three-point day on Saturday, scoring a goal and dishing two assists to aid the Bobcats to the 4-3 victory.
FRENCH PHENOM
- First-year Jade Barbirati got off to a roaring start in her Bobcat career, totaling a four-point weekend en route to ECAC Forward of the Week honors.
- She also scored the game-winner in overtime, helping the Bobcats sweep Hockey East foe Maine en route to a 2-0 start to its regular season.
IN THE POLLS
- The Bobcats jumped up two spots in both national polls this week, climbing to No. 8 in both the USCHO and USA Hockey polls.
PRESEASON ECAC STANDINGS
- Cass Turner's squad was picked tied for fourth in the preseason coaches' poll.
- Cornell, Colgate, and Clarkson were picked as the top three.
STRONG RETURNING GROUP
- QU returns 55% of its scoring from a season ago, with their rising sophomore class accounting for over a third of that production.
- ECAC All-Rookie Team selection Makayla Watson will be back on the blueline after notching 16 points a season ago.
- Last season's leading scorer, Kahlen Lamarche, returns for her junior year in Hamden after two-straight 30+ point seasons.
- Laurence Frenette, Tessa Holk, Emerson Jarvis, and Bryn Prier each return after having double digits points as well last season.
