POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team was able to overcome a slow start on Wednesday afternoon, erasing a four-goal deficit after the first quarter, but a late Marist run put the game away as the Red Foxes won 13-12 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Bobcats rattled off five of the next six goals to cut the deficit down to one and then traded goals, with Mia Delmond beating the buzzer to make it 9-8 going into the halftime break.
It was a relatively lower-scoring second half, as the teams split eight goals evenly. Maggie Kennedy gave Quinnipiac the lead with 8:52 to go off a feed in front by Abby Wise.
Marist would score the final two however, with the winner coming off an eight-meter with 3:05 to play.
