QU Falls in Three Sets to Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Quinnipiac volleyball team fell in straight sets to the Fairfield Stags in a 2023 MAAC Championship rematch on Saturday afternoon.
Elena Giacomini led the way on the offensive end with 16 kills in the three-set loss. Leilani-kai Giusta registered 10 kills and two service aces.

SET ONE (25-19, Fairfield)
The Bobcats and Stags traded points early in the first set, but Fairfield took a 15-13 lead in the first media timeout. The two teams continued the back-and-forth set as the Stags held a 19-17 lead as Quinnipiac called a timeout.
Out of the break, Fairfield went on a 6-2 run to close out the set, 25-19 and take a lead in the match.
SET TWO (25-21)
Fairfield opened the second set with an 8-4 advantage as Quinnipiac called their first timeout of the set. Out of the timeout, Fairfield held onto their lead as they led 19-15, forcing the Bobcats to use their second timeout.
Out of the break, Quinnipiac closed the gap as the Stags held a 20-18 lead before, they took their first timeout of the match. After their timeout, Fairfield finished off the set with a 25-21 win.
SET THREE (25-21)
Fairfield took a 15-11 lead in the third set as they approached the media timeout. Fairfield continued the pressure on the Bobcats as they led 23-19 before Quinnipiac called a timeout.
After the timeout, the Stags capped off the match with a 25-21 win in the third set.

The Bobcats will return home as they take on the Sacred Heart Pioneers on Sunday afternoon. The start time is slated for 1 PM in Burt Kahn Court.
