Bobcats Maintain First Place Standing at MAAC Championship

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Quinnipiac women's golf maintained its position through the second round of the MAAC Championship, as the Bobcats lead the field as a whole, while three student-athletes rank within the top-10 at the tournament held at Disney's Palm Golf Course Saturday afternoon.
Quinnipiac sits in first place after scoring 292 (+4) in the second round to bring the team score to 583 (+7), 15 strokes ahead of second-place UAlbany. The Bobcats entered the second round just one stroke ahead of the Great Danes before gaining 14 strokes of separation on day two.
Fuge Zhang stands alone in first place, as she shot an even 72 to bring her score to 142 (-2) for the tournament. Starting on the 10th team Zhang logged three birdies, including back-to-back birdies on holes five and six before finishing -1 on her back nine.
Leeyen Peralta narrowly trails Zhang at 144 (E) after scoring an even 72 for the second consecutive round to tie for fourth place. Starting from the 10th tee, Peralta secured eight pars over her first nine holes, before taking two birdies on her back nine to finish the final nine holes at -1.
Kaylee Sakoda is tied for sixth after the second day of play, shooting 73 (+1) for the second consecutive round to bring her score 146 (+2). Sakoda got off to a fire start from 10, picking up six pars and a birdie over the front nine for the Bobcats.
Aimee Uchida rounded out Quinnipiac's team scoring, shooting 75 (+3), bringing her total to 154 (+10) for 13th place on the weekend. After shooting +2 on her front nine from 10, Uchida bounced back on her back nine with two birdies, followed by back-to-back pars to close out her round. Meg Yoshida wrapped up the Bobcat scores, as she is tied for 14th after scoring 155 (+11) through two rounds.
The Bobcats will be back in action on Sunday, April 23, when they wrap play at the MAAC Tournament.
