HAMDEN, Conn.— The Quinnipiac Bobcats weathered the storm on a rainy Saturday afternoon defeating the Iona Gaels 2-0 in Hamden.

Lily Schnieders opened up the scoring for the Bobcats in the 8^th minute and Emely van der Vliet added some insurance with her goal in the 78^th minute.

SCORING SUMMARY

First Half

(8' – Quinnipiac 1, Iona 0) – Off a Quinnipiac corner, Ella Gagno played it short to Madison Mandleur. Mandleur took the ball and sent it into the box where it found the head of Lily Schnieders who put the ball into the back of the net.

Second Half

(78' – Quinnipiac 2, Iona 0) - Courtney Chochol sent the ball across the box where it was played by an Iona defender. Emely van der Vliet picked up the loose ball and fired it past the Iona goalkeeper to double Quinnipiac's lead.

Emely van der Vliet scored her first goal of the season and second in her Quinnipiac career.
