Softball Drops Two Games at Iona

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac softball team dropped two road MAAC games at Iona on Sunday, May 1. The Bobcats came up short in both games, losing, 4-1 and 3-0.
Quinnipiac moves to 12-25 overall and 5-11 in the MAAC. Iona improves to 21-21 overall and 10-8 in the MAAC, which is ranked fourth in the conference.
Game One Recap:
Fourth Inning – The Gaels held a 1-0 lead until the fourth inning. Kayla Thomas got the inning started with a single to center field. Lala Pascual doubled to center field, and Thomas scored.
The game would remained tied until the bottom of the fifth inning as Iona added one more run. The Gaels would scored two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to secure a 4-1 lead and held on to win game one.
Notable Stats:
The Bobcats lost the second game, 3-0. The Gaels scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning and added one more run in the third. Quinnipiac struggled at the plate, tallying just two hits.

Quinnipiac will play the final two regular season series of year against Monmouth and Fairfield next weekend. Both doubleheaders will be on the road May 7 and 8.
