Bobcats Dominate Sacred Heart in Season Opener

Terpstra Records Team-High 11 Points, Moser and Storey Score Two Tries Each
HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's rugby team kicked off the 2020-21 campaign with a dominating 61-5 victory over the Sacred Heart Pioneers at the Quinnipiac Rugby Field Wednesday afternoon.
Eight different Bobcats recorded tries in the opener, led by two each from Libby Moser and Kat Storey. Both Moser and Storey had a try in each half Wednesday.
Quinnipiac scored the first 49 points Wednesday before Sacred Heart broke the shutout with their lone try.
Jordan Cowan got the scoring started for the Bobcats 7:19 into the match before Storey broke off for a long run to double the Bobcats lead. Abbey Terpstra added her first of three conversions on the day to take a 12-0 lead.
Matja Saarenheimo-Vanderhorst burst over the try line for her first score before Grace Martin added to the lead with her first try on Senior Day. Terpstra's conversion made it 24-0 with 12:47 left in the half.
Moser and Terpstra each scored three tries in the final eight minutes of the half for a 39-0 lead.
Allison Koenig got the Bobcats started early in the second half with her first try of the match before Moser scored her second try for a 49-0 lead.
After a Sacred Heart try, Storey pulled off another long run for her second try of the meet and Addison Walker ended the match with the try for the Bobcats.
Terpstra led the Bobcats with 11 points Wednesday behind her try and three conversions while Storey and Moser each had 10 points from two tries.
