Golf Takes First Place at QU Classic

First Year Kim Wins Individual Title
WALLINGFORD, Conn. – Quinnipiac golf finished the Quinnipiac Classic with a first place finish among 12 teams, taking the team title after shooting 918 (+54), 19 strokes ahead of second-place St. John's.
First year Elyse Kim finished in first place, carding 223 (71-74-78; +7) to lead all competitors. Kim is Quinnipiac's highest finishing individual on the young season and the first Bobcat to win a competition outright since Kaylee Sakoda took first place at the Fairfield Tri-Match last spring.
Sophomore Aimee Uchida continued her strong start to the season after scoring 229 (77-74-78; +13) to tie for second place. The second place finish marked Uchida's highest finish of the season and her third consecutive top-10 finish to open the season.
Junior Leeyan Peralta tied for seventh after posting a score of 234 (76-78-80; +18) for her highest finish of the season. First year Meg Yoshida and senior Elena Lopez rounded out the Bobcats' group tying for 11th and tying for 13th, respectively. Yoshida shot 235 (80-77-78; +19), while Lopez carded a 236 (80-79-77; +20).
Junior Mia Grzywinski tied for 32nd to lead Quinnipiac's "B" team. A native of Farmington, Conn., Grzywinski carded a 245 (82-77-86; +29). Senior Darby Lillibridge followed with a 37th place finish, scoring 247 (84-80-83; +31) at the Farms Country Club. Senior Amanda Tully rounded out Quinnipiac's competitors, shooting 261 (85-85-91; +45)
The Bobcats will be back in action on Sunday, Oct. 17 when they begin play at the Sacred Heart Invitational held at the Great River Golf Club in Milford, Connecticut.
