
Volleyball Drops 2 Contests at Ellis Rowland Memorial Tournament

HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac volleyball team fell in both matches in their doubleheader at the Ellis Rowland Memorial Tournament on Saturday.
Aryanah Diaz tallied her first career triple-double in the second game of the doubleheader, finishing with 14 kills, 16 assists and 20 digs.

Rutgers 3, Quinnipiac 0 (25-22, 25-10, 25-22)

SET ONE
Neither team got a stranglehold on the match in the early portion of the first set, with both teams still tied at 13 halfway through the set. Rutgers would get out to a lead in the set, but the Bobcats would score two straight points to cut the lead to 20-18, leading to a Rutgers timeout. The Bobcats would come out of the timeout and win three of the next four points to tie the set at 21. However, Rutgers would win the four of the final five points of the set to win the set 25-22.
SET TWO
Quinnipiac jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the set, but a pair of 5-0 runs by the Scarlet Knights gave them a 12-6 lead, resulting in a Bobcats timeout. Rutgers would take control in the set en route to winning the set 25-10.
SET THREE
An Aryanah Diaz kill got the set underway, and the Bobcats would build their lead out to 3-1. The Bobcats would continue to lead through the midway point of the set. Morgan Sherwin would get a kill to give the Bobcats a 13-11 lead. Rutgers would come back to grab the lead. The Bobcats would fight off a set point, but the Scarlet Knights would take the set 25-22 to win the match.

SET ONE
Both teams went back and forth in the early going of the set with the Bobcats battling back after every New Hampshire point. New Hampshire got out to a four point lead at 13-9. With a timeout on the floor, the Wildcats held a 15-10 lead. After winning a challenge on a blocking error by the Bobcats, New Hampshire extended their lead to 20-12. The Bobcats would win three straight points to fight off set point, but the Wildcats would take the set 25-16.
SET TWO
The Bobcats would play from in front in the beginning stages of the set, forcing a New Hampshire timeout at 8-6. The Bobcats would use a 3-0 scoring run to extend their lead to 15-12. The Bobcats would build on that run to push their lead to as much as six in the set. New Hampshire would go on a 3-0 scoring run to cut the Bobcat lead to 22-19, resulting in a Bobcats timeout. The Wildcats would extend that scoring run to 7-0, but an Olga Zampati kill would bring it to an end. The Bobcats would call a timeout facing set point at 25-24 and would fight off that set point, tying the set up at 25. Quinnipiac would win a challenge on an out of bounds call to take a 26-25 lead in the set. Both teams would fight off continuous set points, but New Hampshire would win the set 31-29.
SET THREE
Nicole Migliozzi had an ace to give the Bobcats a 7-4 lead in the set. Aryanah Diaz would get a kill to give her a triple double in the match and to give the Bobcats an 8-7 lead. The Bobcats would use a 3-0 run to give them a 14-11 lead in the set. New Hampshire would answer that run with a 4-0 scoring run to give them a 15-14 lead in the set. Quinnipiac would go on a 4-0 scoring run to get out to an 18-15 lead, forcing a New Hampshire timeout. The Bobcats would force another New Hampshire timeout, leading 23-19. The Bobcats would come out of the timeout and take the set 25-21.
SET FOUR
The Wildcats started the set quickly, getting out to a 5-1 lead. The Bobcats would answer back with three straight points of the their own to cut the deficit to 5-4. New Hampshire would maintain a small lead throughout the set, but Quinnipiac would tie the set up at 15. New Hampshire would go on a 3-0 scoring run to get out to a 19-16 lead. The Wildcats would build on that lead to take the set 25-20.
