Bobcats Earn First MAAC Win of Season with Thrilling Comeback
BUFFALO, N.Y. – Despite trailing 9-4 at the end of the first half, the Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team scored nine second half goals and earned a 14-13 victory in double overtime at Canisius on Saturday.
Junior Megan Szawlowski and senior Allison Kuhn each posted six points in the win, while goalkeepers Allie Kelsey and Sami Walter combined for eight saves.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Victoria Bobinski opened the scoring just two minutes into the game with her seventh goal of the season. Szawlowski picked up the assist on the opening goal.
- Canisius rattled off six goals in a three minute, 50 second span to take a commanding 6-1 lead.
- Kuhn stopped the run with her first goal of the afternoon off of a great feed from Szawlowski with 19:02 left in the half.
- The Golden Griffins responded with a pair of goals to extend the lead to six, but the Bobcats came right back with two of their own from Annie Hage and Brianna Fitzgerald.
- Rachel Heidenreich scored with three minutes to play in the half, giving Canisius a 9-4 lead heading into the halftime break.
- After Ashley Bobinski scored the first goal of the second half, the Golden Griffins once again answered with two goals to go ahead 11-5 with 26:43 left in regulation.
- Szawlowski turned the tide with three straight goals, two of them assisted by Kuhn, in a two and a half minute span to cut the Canisius lead to 11-8.
- Freshman Gabby Beckett continued the Bobcats' run with her fifth goal of the season, trimming the deficit to two goals with 15:21 on the clock.
- The teams traded pairs of goals over the next seven minutes as Canisius held on to a 13-11 lead with less than five minutes remaining in the game.
- Beckett and Taylor Sanna both scored in the last 3:30 of regulation to complete the comeback for Quinnipiac and send the game to overtime. Both players had two goals in the victory.
- After both teams had multiple offensive chances in the first overtime period, Amy Hauser finally broke through for Quinnipiac, scoring the game-winner with 3:53 remaining in the second overtime.
- The Bobcats outshot the Golden Griffins 42-31 in total, including an 24-8 advantage in the second half.
- The Bobcats successfully completed 21 of their 22 clear attempts including a perfect 12-12 in the second half and overtime.
- Quinnipiac earned 12 free position shots in the contest, compared to five for Canisius.
- Fitzgerald earned six draw controls in the win, while Beckett grabbed four of her own.
- Walters recorded the fourth victory of her Quinnipiac career, improving to 4-3 on the season.
- The Bobcats remain on the road for a midweek matchup with the Iona College Gaels. Wednesday's MAAC lacrosse contest will begin at 3:00 PM.
