NORTH HAVEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac men's tennis dropped its spring opener vs. Binghamton, 5-1, on Saturday evening at the North Haven Racquet Club.
Aleksa Martinovic earned the program's lone singles win, and Freddie Zaretsky / Austin Yannone picked up a doubles win.

- Aleksa Martinovic has nine singles wins in 2018-19, earning the Bobcats' first singles win of the spring season. The freshman downed freshman Dylan Friedman of Binghamton (6-3) in the second singles contest of the night to finish.
- Freddie Zaretsky and Austin Yannone have now won two doubles contests in the Bobcats' last two events. The duo topped Hosokawa/Casalduc of Sacred Heart 8-6 in Quinnipiac's last competition of the fall at the CT State Championships before earning a 6-3 win on Saturday vs. Binghamton.
- Quinnipiac men's tennis was tabbed second in the 2019 MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the conference office on Thursday, Jan. 17.
- The Bobcats, who received one first place vote in the poll, earned 42 total points. Quinnipiac finished just behind Monmouth, who earned 48 total points in the poll. Marist finished third, Fairfield fourth and Siena fifth in the preseason vote.
- Chris Pappas enters his fifth season as the head coach of the Quinnipiac men's tennis team in 2018-19, after three impressive seasons at the helm of the program. Pappas is a two-time MAAC Coach of the Year selection, and helped guide the Bobcats to a 17-4 record in league play during his first three seasons.
- In 2016-17, Pappas and the Bobcats won a program-record 16 contests. During that season, the Bobcats also claimed a share of their first MAAC Regular Season Championship in program history, and first overall regular season championship since the 2005-06 season when the Bobcats were in the NEC.
- The Bobcats went 9-10 during the 2017-18 season, going 6-1 in MAAC play.
- Quinnipiac advanced to the semifinal round of the MAAC Tournament, falling vs. No. 3 Marist, 5-1, on April 28, 2018.
- Quinnipiac men's tennis returns to action on Saturday, Jan 26, traveling to Yale to square off with the Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. in New Haven.
