LATHAM. N.Y. — Junior Proyfon Lohaphaisan picked up her 100th career win in doubles, and junior Jennifer Lu followed with her 100th career win in singles as the Quinnipiac women's tennis team captured a 6-1 road win over Siena on Friday afternoon at Tri-Cities.
With the win, the Bobcats are 11-6 on the season and 5-0 in the MAAC, while extending their all-time record against MAAC opponents to 43-0 (35-0 regular season, 8-0 tournament). Siena, which fell to Quinnipiac 4-2 in last year's MAAC Championship match, suffers its first conference loss of the season (3-1).
Siena took the doubles point by winning two of the three courts, although Lohaphaisan was able to team with freshman Dominique Vasile at No. 2 doubles for a 6-4 win, giving her the 100th victory of her career.
The Bobcats bounced back strongly from the 1-0 deficit, though, by winning all six singles courts in straight sets. Lu was the last to finish, picking up a 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 2 for the 100th win in her career, while Lohaphaisan picked up win No. 101 at No. 5 singles 6-3, 6-0 to give the Bobcats a 2-1 lead. Freshman Courtney Nash was the first to finish at No. 6 singles, where she won 6-2, 6-0 to tie the score.
Sophomore Layla Rodriguez picked up a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles to make the score 3-1, and freshman Payton Bradley clinched the win at No. 3 with a 6-2, 6-4 victory. Vasile added a dominant second set at No. 1 singles, capturing a 7-6, 6-0 win, before Lu finished off the singles sweep with her 100th win.
Quinnipiac will be back in action on Sunday when they play a 6:30 p.m. match against Marist at the North Haven Health and Racquet Club.
