BOSTON, Mass. - Senior Emily Wolff earned the championship of the 5000-meter run with a personal best time of 16:40.06 and the 4x800 relay team came in under nine minutes (8:58.99) to break a school record to highlight the first day of the ECAC Women's Track and Field Championships for the Quinnipiac indoor track and field team on Saturday at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.
Wolff won the race by just under three seconds over Hannah Reinhardt of Albany (16:43.03) in second, and three other runners who finished in under 16:50 in a close finish. She adds the 5000 title to her first-place finish in the event at the MAAC Championships two weeks ago in New York City.
The 4x800 relay team of sophomore Meghan Curtin, senior Alyson Caron (pictured), junior Marlo Wehrer and senior Kaleigh Roberts finished third in the semifinals with their 8:58.99. breaking the old school mark of 9:01.92, set in 2015 at Princeton (Caron was also a part of that relay team as well). The Bobcats were third in their heat and sixth overall to advance through to tomorrow's finals.
Senior Jessica Lee continued her strong winter season by winning both the prelims and the semis in the 60-meter hurdles with the fastest times in the field. Her semifinal time of 8.27 seconds was just .09 off her own school record of 8.18 seconds which she set last weekend at the Fast Track Ocean Breeze meet. Lee's time of 8.27 seconds was .17 ahead of her closest competitor. She will compete in the finals tomorrow to try to add another championship to the three that she earned at the MAAC Championships (including the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter run, which she did not compete in at the ECAC Championships).
In addition to Lee's hurdles final and the 4x800 relay tomorrow, the Bobcats will also have Kaleigh Roberts competing in the 3000 meters.
