QU Women's Tennis Wins Pair of Tight 5-2 Decisions over Colgate, Bryant

BRADENTON, Fla. - The Quinnipiac women's tennis team picked up a pair of 5-2 wins on Thursday at the IMG Tennis Academy, taking a 5-2 win over Colgate and a nail-biting 5-2 win over Bryant in which two of the doubles matches went to tiebreakers and five of the six singles matches went to three sets.
MATCH ONE SCORE: Quinnipiac 5, Colgate 2
Junior Proyfon Lohaphaisan and freshman Courtney Nash both rallied after dropping the first sets at No. 4 and No. 5 singles to help the Quinnipiac women's tennis team complete a 5-2 victory over Colgate in its first of two matches.

Quinnipiac won tiebreakers in doubles at both No. 2 and No. 3 to take the doubles point and then won three matches in three sets in singles from No. 1 Dominique Vasile, No. 2 Jennifer Lu, and No. 4 Proyfon Lohaphaisan to emerge with a 5-2 win a razor-close match against the Bulldogs.

- Freshman Stephanie Yanosov (pictured) had a dominant two-set win at No. 6 singles (6-0, 6-2) to go along with a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles with sophomore Amy Zammarieh.
- Junior Profyon Lohaphaisan also had a single-doubles sweep, winning 6-2 at No. 2 doubles with freshman Dominique Vasile, and earning a three-set win at No. 4 singles to cap off the match.
- The Bobcats dominated in doubles to take the first point, with junior Jennifer Lu and sophomore Layla Rodriguez taking a 6-0 win at No. 1.
- Yanosov earned the first singles win to push the lead to 2-0.
- Lu stretched the Bobcats lead to 3-1 with a quick 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles to complete her singles-doubles sweep.
- After Colgate pulled to within 3-2, the Bobcats needed to take one of the final two courts where the first two sets were split in order to clinch the win.
- Freshman Courtney Nash earned the clincher with a dominant third set to finish off a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 win.
- Lohaphaisan capped off the scoring with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 4.

- The entire match featured heavy drama, as the only singles match that did not go three sets was freshman Stephanie Yanosov winning by retirement at No. 6 singles with a 7-5, 1-0 lead.
- The Bobcats took the doubles point by the narrowest of margins, as Yanosov and fellow freshman Payton Bradley won 7-6 (11-9) in a dramatic tiebreaker for the clincher
- After Bryant took a 1-0 lead at No. 1 doubles, junior Proyfon Lohaphaisan and freshman Dominique Vasile took a 7-6 (8-6) decision that also extended past the seven-point tiebreaker to determine a winner, leveling the score at 1-1.
- Yanosov's singles win gave Quinnipiac a 2-0 lead, and completed a 4-0 day for her with two singles and two doubles victories.
- Bryant got a point back at No. 5 singles, but Vasile and junior Jennifer Lu both won their third sets 6-2 at No. 1 and No. 2 to clinch the victory.
- Lohaphaisan earned a hard-fought win at No. 4 singles for the final point for the Bobcats, completing a 4-0 day for her as well.
- Lohaphaisan dropped a first set tiebreaker before winning 7-5 in the second and 11-9 in the 10-point tiebreaker in the third.
- Rodriguez split two tiebreakers in the first two sets at No. 3 singles, and then fell 10-6 in the 10-point tiebreaker in the third.
