BROOKLYN, New York - The Quinnipiac softball team fell on the road to former NEC rival LIU Brooklyn, 8-0, Friday afternoon at the LIU Brooklyn Softball Field in five innings.
With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 7-14 on the season, while the Blackbirds improve to 13-16.
Abbey Long (Eau Claire, Wisconsin) took the loss but only gave up three earned runs. Miranda Magana (Santa Paula, California), Rebecca Drake (Whiting, New Jersey) and Taylor Troyan (Boca Raton, Florida) all recorded a hit in the loss.
LIU got on the board in the bottom of the sixth after scoring six runs in the inning behind three Quinnipiac errors.
The Bobcats had a chance to start a rally in the top of the third after Troyan singled to right with two outs, then Magana followed with a single of her own. However, Magana was tagged out trying to turn a single into a double, ending the inning.
