New Haven, Conn. – The future is bright for the Quinnipiac men's tennis team as the freshman duo of Austin Yannone (Severna Park, Maryland) and Axel Stern (Tustin, California) were able to advance to the doubles finals at the Connecticut State Championships, but the duo would not take the trophy Sunday morning at Yale.
Stern and Yannone were the only Bobcats in action on Sunday and the duo fell in the championship round to Brad Orban and Tyler Shibles of Fairfield. The duo battled hard, but ultimately fell 6-3.
The Quinnipiac men's tennis team will return to action on Friday, Sept. 30 when they host the Quinnipiac Invitational beginning at 10 A.M. before continuing on Saturday, Oct. 1 and Sunday, Oct. 2 with play beginning at 9 A.M. Fairleigh Dickinson, Fordham, Marist and UConn are among the teams expected to compete in the field.
