
Roser and Ezaka Win Three Matches as QU Men's Tennis Wraps Up Florida Trip with Doubleheader Split

ORLANDO, Florida – The Quinnipiac men's tennis team picked up its eighth win of the season on Wednesday as the Bobcats split their doubleheader in the final day of competition in Florida, falling to the nationally-ranked No. 20 North Georgia Nighthawks, 4-3, before rebounding to defeat Fairleigh Dickinson, 5-2, at night.
The Bobcats improved their record to 8-6 on the season with the doubleheader split while the Nighthawks improve to 9-4 on the season and the Knights fall to 1-6 on the season.
Kei Ezaka (Ojai, California) and Luke Roser (Bernardsville, New Jersey) led the Bobcats with three wins on the afternoon as they each won two doubles matches and one singles match. Ezaka now has 93 wins in his career as he moves within seven wins of the 100-career win mark where he would become the seventh player in the program's Division I history to reach the mark. Roser's three wins breaks his single-season career-high of 29 wins which he set last season, boosting his total to 31 with 11 wins in singles and 20 wins at doubles. Roser moved past Charles Feldman for the fifth most-wins in program history with 105.
Willem van Biezen (Warmond, The Netherlands) won two matches on the day for the Bobcats to tie his single-season career-high of 29 wins which he recorded last season as a freshman. Another personal best was tied during the afternoon as Ryoma Haraguchi (New York, New York) won his sixth singles match of the season to tie his career-high from 2013-14.
Jonas Kuwert (Jesteberg, Germany) and Kyle Alper (Dix Hills, New York) each won two matches on Wednesday for the Bobcats to give Quinnipiac six players with at least two individual wins.
In the Bobcats loss to the Nighthawks, Quinnipiac took the doubles point in an early 1-0 lead. Philipp Mueller and Niklas Zielen teamed up at No. 1 doubles to take down the Bobcats top team of Kuwert and van Biezen, 6-3. Quinnipiac won the next two doubles matches to win the point, starting with Roser and Zaretsky's 6-3 win over Hugues Renald and Joe Klokow. Ezaka and Alper finished off doubles with a win for the Bobcats as they defeated Andre Canino and Lukas Moritzen, 6-4.
Singles play was a different story for the Bobcats as the Nighthawks stormed back. Mueller knocked off Ezaka at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-4 to tie up the match, 1-1. Alexander Reinauer continued the winning for North Georgia as he knocked off Zaretsky, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles. The Bobcats got two points back at No. 3 and No. 4 singles to reclaim a 3-2 lead. Rozenstein continued his hot play at singles as he held off Renald at No. 3 to win the match, 7-6 (4), 6-4. Kuwert also went to a tiebreaker set at No. 4 singles but he held on to defeat Moritzen, 7-6 (6), 6-4. North Georgia won the final two matches of the day to win the match, starting with Klokow knocking off Roser at No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-3, followed by Canino's three set win over Alper at No. 5 singles, 3-6, 7-6 (5), 10-8.

Ezaka and Alper won their fourth straight doubles match together at No. 3 doubles, defeating William Bourne and Kiran Mani, 6-0, to set the tone. Kuwert and van Biezen picked up the win at No. 1 doubles against Jacob Whalley and Gonzalo Quintana, 6-2, before Roser and Haraguchi finished off the sweep with a 6-4 win against Diogo Garnel and Adam Chan.
Ezaka continued his winning ways in singles as he cruised past Whalley at the top singles spot, 6-2, 6-3. Roser came up big at No. 4 singles against Garnel to get the 6-3, 6-2 win before van Biezen moved up to No. 2 doubles and secure the win for the Bobcats as he defeated Chan, 3-6, 7-5, 10-7. Fairleigh Dickinson got two points back at No. 3 singles as Quintana knocked off Alper in a tough, three-set match, 5-7, 6-3, 10-5 and Bourne took on Ben Teicher (Kendall Park, New Jersey) at No. 6 singles, 6-3, 6-2. Teicher's match was his first of the spring season. The Bobcats finished off the match at No. 5 singles as Haraguchi picked up his second win against The Knights, beating Mani in a tight, two-set match, 7-5, 7-6 (5).
