
Kyle Alper Wins at No. 6 Singles, QU Men's Tennis Falls to Temple, 6-1

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania – The Quinnipiac men's tennis team played a tough match Saturday night as they took on the Temple Owls, falling 6-1 at the Legacy Tennis Center.
Temple extended its winning streak to 10 matches in the win while Quinnipiac fell to 5-3 on the season.
Kyle Alper (Dix Hills, New York) picked up the only point for the Bobcats as he won his match at No. 6 singles and Luke Roser (Bernardsville, New Jersey) and Freddie Zaretsky (Fair Lawn, New Jersey) picked up a doubles win at No. 2 doubles. Roser's victory was the 99th of his career for the Bobcats.
The Owls took the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles matches to claim the point in closely contested matchups. Jonas Kuwert (Jesteberg, Germany) and Willem van Biezen (Warmond, The Netherlands) continued their play together at No. 1 doubles but fell to Temple's Hicham Belkssir and Vineet Naran, 6-4, and Kei Ezaka (Ojai, California) and Alper fell to Uladzimir Dorash and Florian Mayer at No. 3 doubles, 6-4. Roser and Zaretsky picked up the lone doubles win for the Bobcats as they hung on to defeat Artem Kapshuk and Nicolas Paulus, 7-5.
Temple won the top five singles matches against Quinnipiac, with Alper picking up the only win for the Bobcats. Alper faced Filip Stipcic at No. 6 singles, and after playing two tight sets, Alper pulled away with the win in the third, 7-6 (3), 5-7, 10-3. At No. 5 singles, van Biezen was the only Bobcat to not fall in straight sets to the Owls as it took extra games in the third set for Belkssir to come up with the 6-3, 2-6, 12-10 win.
The Quinnipiac men's tennis team returns home for their first home match of the spring season on Saturday, March 5 as the Bobcats host the Boston University Terriers at the North Haven Health and Racquet Club in North Haven, Connecticut beginning at 6:30 PM.
