
QU Acrobatics & Tumbling Sweeps Weekend, Defeats Glenville State, 269.27-252.305

GLENVILLE, W.V. – The Quinnipiac acrobatics and tumbling team defeated Glenville State College on Sunday afternoon, 269.27-252.305. With the win, the Bobcats improved to 3-1 on the season while the Pioneers dropped to 0-4. Quinnipiac won each of the six events in Glenville State's first ever NCATA home meet.
QU swept the competition over the weekend in West Virginia, going 3-0 after taking first place in a tri-meet against Alderson Broaddus and Fairmont State on Saturday.
The Bobcats began the day with a win in the Compulsory event, scoring 37.70 points off several big heats. Quinnipiac started off with a 9.30 in the Acro heat followed by an impressive 9.95 in the Pyramid. QU capped off the round with a 9.70 in the Toss and an 8.75 in the Tumbling heat.
Quinnipiac extended their advantage in the Acro event, capturing a 28.25 mark. The Bobcats started the round off extremely strong with a 9.80 in the 5-Element heat. Sophomore Abby Ziser (Pompton Plains, New Jersey), junior Allee Tallman (Farmington, New York), senior Kayla McCormack (Hanson, Massachussets) and junior Noelle Brasier (Simi Valley, California) all combined to produce the high mark.
In the Pyramid round, the final event before halftime, Quinnipiac scored a 29.45 out of a possible 30 points. The Bobcats produced a perfect 10 in the Flip heat followed by scores of 9.85 in the Twist heat and 9.60 in the Release heat. On the season, QU has now scored 10's in two of the three Pyramid heats, reaching the perfect mark in the Release heat against Baylor. The Bobcats took a 95.40-91.60 lead heading into the break.
Quinnipiac secured a 28.0 score in the Toss round before capturing a 51.750 in the Tumbling event. The Bobcats won three of the six heats to just barely edge the Pioneers for their fifth event win. Senior Taylor Johnson (Foxboro, Massachusetts) improved to 4-0 in the Aerial Pass with a 9.65 while freshman Jenna Capristo (Wolcott, Connecticut) won the 6-Element heat with a 9.53.
The Bobcats won the Team event for their sixth victory of the day. Quinnipiac scored a 94.12 compared to an 83.33 from the Pioneers.
Up next, the Bobcats return to Hamden for a meet against Gannon University. On Sunday, Feb. 28, Quinnipiac will welcome the Golden Knights to the TD Bank Sports Center for an 11 a.m. showdown.
