HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, New York- The Quinnipiac University women's golf team finished second at the St. John's Invitational. The Bobcats trailed first-place St. John's by two strokes on the second day and finished 17 strokes off the leader for the 36-hole tournament. Quinnipiac finished 14 strokes ahead of third-place Hoftstra.

"Today was windy and cold and the course is a tough course on a very good day," head coach John O'Connor said. "The team played very well, and I'm especially pleased with Estefania [Morales]. She's showing signs that the spring could be very good for her."

Sophomore Estefania Morales (Caracas, Venezuela) finished tied for fifth for her best career finish. Morales followed her 80 ( 8) for the first round with a 79 ( 7) for the second round to finish at 159 ( 15) for the tournament. Morales' 79 on Tuesday was one of just seven rounds among the field of 26 below 80 for the tournament.

"Emily and Julia played well, and I'm very optimistic about our spring season," O'Connor added. "This is the conclusion of the fall season, and it's been a great season. I've seen a lot of good play from most of our players and I'm very excited for the spring."

Morales led Quinnipiac's top-four scorers that all finished in the top 10. Luciana Tobia-Palza (La Paz, Bolivia) started the day in 17^th place but shed five strokes from her first-day score to card a 78 ( 6) for the second round and finish at 161 ( 17) for seventh place. Julia Kemmling (Berlin, Connecticut) shot an 82 ( 10) for the second round to finish tied for eighth with a 162 ( 18).

Freshman Alexandra Sazhin (New Fairfield, Connecticut) followed her first-day 80 with an 83 ( 11) for the second round to finish at 163 ( 19) for 10^th place. Emily Ribbins (Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands) improved by six strokes from her first round score to shoot an 82 ( 10) for the second round and complete the tournament at 170 ( 26).
