
QU Men's Tennis Wraps Up Final Day of Bowdoin Invitational

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Quinnipiac men's tennis team picked up four individual victories in the final day of the Bowdoin Invitational, led by Kyle Alper's (Dix Hills, New York) team-leading fifth victory of the weekend.
Freddie Zaretsky (Fair Lawn, New Jersey) picked up another victory in his first tournament of his collegiate career while Julian Rozenstein (Marlboro, New Jersey) and Luke Roser (Bernardsville, New Jersey) also picked up wins for the Bobcats.
Overall, the Bobcats went 4-4 on the day and won 16 matches in the first weekend of completion.
Zaretsky picked up the first victory of the day for the Bobcats as he took the court against Bowdoin's Kyle Wolfe and dominated in his two-set victory, 6-3, 6-0 to record his first shutout in a set.
Rozenstein had an equally impressive day as he faced off against Marist's Timo Tanzer and cruised past the Red Fox, 6-2, 6-4.
Alper took the court late in the match against the host Polar Bears' Gil Roddy and hung on to win the match, 6-4, 7-5.
Roser competed in a thrilling, three-set match against Marist's Paulo Siracusa, including a first set tiebreaker match. Roser rebounded to take the match, 7-6 (8), 3-6, 10-5.
In other action for the Bobcats, Ryoma Haraguchi (New York, New York) battled in a three-set match against Marist's Max Darrington and fell just short, 6-1, 1-6, 10-7. Willem van Biezen (Warmond, The Netherlands) nearly took his singles match against Bowdoin's Jerry Jiang, but fell 6-4, 6-4. Kei Ezaka (Ojai, California) faced off against Fredrik Bjerke and fell, 6-2, 6-1. In the final match of the afternoon, Ben Teicher (Kendall Park, New Jersey) competed against Marist's Dylan Fletcher but the match was retired with Teicher down, 3-0.
The Quinnipiac men's tennis team returns to action next weekend with the Connecticut State Championships beginning Friday, Sept. 18 at 10 A.M. and running through Sunday, Sept. 20. at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center.
