
Alper, Rozenstein and Zaretsky Shine for QU Men's Tennis at Second Day of Bowdoin Invitational

Brunswick, Maine – The Quinnipiac men's tennis team picked up seven more match victories at the second day of the Bowdoin Invitational as Kyle Alper (Dix Hills, New York), Julian Rozenstein (Marlboro, New Jersey) and Freddie Zaretsky (Fair Lawn, New Jersey) led the way with two victories each on the afternoon.
For Alper, it was the second straight day he recorded two victories to give him a team-high four wins this season through the first two days of competition. Zaretsky earned his first multi-win day of his career with one win each in doubles and singles play while Rozenstein tallied his first multi-win day of the season.
Alper and Rozenstein picked up their first victory of the day with a strong 8-6 victory over Bowdoin's Luke Tercek and Luke Trinka. Kei Ezaka (Ojai, California) and Ryoma Haraguchi (New York, New York) took to the court against their MAAC rivals Fredrik Bjerke and Joe Motta of Marist as Ezaka and Haraguchi cruised to the win, 6-3. Luke Roser (Bernardsville, New Jersey) and Zaretsky also picked up their second doubles match victory in as many days as they defeated Marist's Jan Dernic and Julien Hochner, 6-3.
Alper then teamed up with Willem van Biezen (Warmond, The Netherlands) played together for the first time this season but fell to Marist's Bjerke and Motta, 7-5 in a hard fought loss. Ezaka and Haraguchi played their second doubles match of the afternoon but fell, 6-3, to Marist's top doubles duo of Rudolf Kurz and Dylan Fletcher. Roser and Zaretsky grinded in their second doubles match of the day and forced a long tiebreaker set, but fell to Bowdoin's Gil Roddy and Grant Urken, 8-7 (5). Ben Teicher (Kendall Park, New Jersey) took the court with Rozenstein for a final doubles match of the afternoon, falling to Bowdoin's Kyle Wolfe and Jerry Jiang, 8-4.
Alper continued his winning ways with another victory in singles play as he faced off with Marist's Paulo Siracusa, pulling away in the second set to win, 7-6 (4), 6-1. Zaretsky picked up a big victory in singles for the Bobcats. In just his second day of collegiate competition, he defeated Marist's No. 2 Rudolf Kurz in three sets, 6-2, 4-6, 10-8. Rozenstein cruised to his second victory of the day with a two-set victory over Max Darrington, 6-3, 6-0.
In other singles action, van Biezen nearly forced a third set but fell to Marist's Dernic, 6-2, 7-5. Roser took the court against Marist's Moreno but fell in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. The Bobcats also sent Ezaka to the court in one of the top singles matches, but fell to Bowdoin's Trinka, 6-2, 6-2.
The Quinnipiac men's tennis team returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 9 A.M. for the final day of competition at the Bowdoin Invitational.
