HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac women's tennis senior Jacqueline Raynor (Garden City, New York) tied Jessica Uccello '00 for second most wins in Quinnipiac women's tennis history with her 159th career victory as she picked up a pair of wins for the Bobcats in their 7-0 sweep of the Siena Saints in MAAC action.
The Bobcats improve to 9-7 (5-0 MAAC) and remain undefeated in MAAC Tennis matches since joining the league while the Saints fall to 7-10 (3-3 MAAC) with the loss. Quinnipiac's sweep was also its fourth sweep of the season and second consecutive as the Bobcats did not drop a single match all weekend.
Raynor extended her personal winning streak to 14 matches with two more victories on Senior Day, as she has not recorded a loss since March 17 against the Iowa State Cyclones.
All three seniors recorded at least one win on Senior Day as Michelle Dassa (Marlboro, New Jersey) recorded the 120th win of her career and Ariana Launie (Milton, Massachusetts) recorded her 102nd win just one day after joining the 100 win club.
As they have done for much of the season, the Bobcats swept all three doubles points in pretty convincing fashion. Sophia Dzulynsky (Miramar, Florida) and Sitilia Rencheli (Sarasota, Florida) were the first doubles team to lock up the victory, taking down Cassandra Braz and Allysa Singh, 8-2 just before Sydney Young (Austin, Texas) and Rachel Horton (Stamford, Connecticut) finished off Julia Dunbar and Rina Sakai in No. 2 doubles, 8-2. In No. 1 doubles, Raynor and Dassa had a lengthy battle with Ali Garrity and Mitsuki Fukamachi but were able to overcome the Siena duo in a tiebreaker, 8-7 (4).
Singles play was just as dominating for the Bobcats as they took all six points, including five straight-set victories. Dassa was the first Bobcat done in singles play after defeating Jessica Macaluso, 6-1, 6-0 in No. 5 singles. Just after Dassa, Dzulynsky wrapped up her match with Garrity in No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-2 win. Young cruised past Singh in No. 3 singles to secure the match victory for the Bobcats, 6-0, 6-2. Raynor extended her winning streak with a solid 6-1, 6-3 victory over Rina Sakai before Horton came away with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Fukamachi. Launie completed the sweep for the Bobcats with a 4-6, 6-1, 10-5 come from behind win to take down Dunbar of the Saints.
